i dislike the degree to which i am liking this game

game's aight, world is interesting, characters are decently likable, gameplay is pretty cool (though it did have me developing a claw grip on my controller at points). main complaint i'd have is the standard Asian media "church/religion fake and bad" messaging, but that's about par for the course. also i recommend using a guide for this, i got lost a couple times and later found out i had already completed that area, then had to head to a different place and find a branching path, let alone that there are missable achievements, and multiple ending achievements. overall though, it's aight. probably worth the $35 pricetag.

As a game, good shooty game, guns are fun, spells and equipment and movement are fun. Excited for it to develop more.

As a Catholic, obviously this gets an array of things incorrect about the Church, occultism, and God, but eh, that's pretty much par for the course in the "demon-shooting" genre. Here's hoping the story doesn't portray the Pope/Church/God as "the real bad guys who just want to control others". like every other "subversion" ever.

Inevitably I have to compare this to DOOM2016 - feels like an early-ish build of 2016, some flaws but definitely solid. Guns feel alright, sword feels good, music spans from "great" to "acquired taste" (overall i liked it), enemies get the job done, though I wish there was more types of enemies to fight, and more variety in arenas - perhaps some platforming puzzles or some such.
The main story mode and the adjacent challenge levels ("torments") are pretty fun, but I found the Leviathan horde-roguelite mode more fun overall.

Sidenote, like DOOM, the lore of this game has some nonsensical/heretical concepts (ie. the Almighty is corrupt with power and is the real meanie). Those eyerolls aside, the story is serviceable enough.

the only game i've seen where you can venture into caverns in the deep jungle to find an ancient mayan shrine with an offering chest in the middle that contains a shotgun

really tho great game, loads better with friends, i suggest not looking up tutorials (at least 'till post-wall of flesh) 'cause games like this are a lot better going in blind IMO.

Low hour count is from playing on the Galactic Adventures dlc launcher instead of the main Spore.

This game is flawed, but you can still have a bit of fun making buildings, vehicles and freaks of un-nature, and the Space stage is pretty neat, building your galactic empire. Worth buying if it's on sale.

I was scrolling through reviews on Steam and thought 'wait how the heck do I have 8 and a half hundred hours on this game?'


Here's a little story from my earlier time playing Warframe.

I had spent weeks gathering Vauban's component blueprints 'cause he looked and sounded cool (spoilers: he's in dire need of a rework), and I finally finished building him, 72 real-time hours later. Tried to grab him out of the foundry and game told me I gotta buy a warframe slot (I started with Volt and had built Frost already). Didn't have the platinum to buy a new slot, so Vauban was stuck in the foundry. So I said in region chat "Finally built Vauban but don't have a warframe slot for him, feelsbadman". Got a few misc responses, but nothing important. I went into an alert mission to grab some helmet blueprint, I think it was for Nekros, and when I came out I had a new inbox message.

Some random stranger had gifted me a warframe slot.
PM'd him "dude thank you so much, really means a lot", he replied "no problem :)".
