For some reason, it runs pretty slow on my laptop, so I have to use windowed mode. But I can recommend this game anyway, leaves a good nostalgic feeling.

I had the same problem. It might be fixable by making sure that your laptop is set to 60hz display. If that doesn't work, try some of the other fixes found in the Sonic CD community as CD and Mania are very close to each other in terms of engine used.
