Before you go through the review just want to add that I played the game in English on release before any patches. So, any issues I mention might not exist when you play it.

Story.
I really enjoyed it all the way through the game, it kept me interested and intrigued, I had a lot of theories about the story and where it would go, I was wrong on 90% of them but that made it a lot better seeing as I wasn’t expecting the direction the story took. This was one of the first games where I didn’t get bored at all while playing, mainly due to the story being so good and entertaining at all times. The only issue I had with is that at some points I was confused as hell, I’m going to assume that’s it’s just due to me just missing something very obvious and me finishing this game in 2 sittings. I will replay it and see if I’ll feel the same after that, if I do, I’ll update the review.

Characters.
Probably one of the most unique and well written rosters I’ve seen, they actually feel, talk and act like normal people, they feel so natural, nothing over the top and they don’t feel like there just random npc’s with boring scripted dialogue, and that’s every character not just the main cast, sure there are some npc’s with your typical throwaway lines but there just add’s in a crowded environment so nothing major that will break your emersion, but that’s enough about that more on dialogue in the next section. Now about the character design, and I have to say that the designs in this game is phenomenal from the main cast to random throwaway npc’s everything is crafted so incredibly well-crafted, and to end this off, Enemy designs are incredible from basic mobs to bosses they are all extremely well done.
Now the main cast, I’ll only talk about Gustave, Lune and Maelle as you get introduced to them in the prologue, Fist Gustave Incredibly written character, the game establishes him and his relation to other characters really well, from the prologue alone you can get a good understanding of him, which then gets even more reinforced in act1, to sum it up, one of the best written characters in any game I’ve played.
Lune, the prologue doesn’t really do a good job at establishing her as well as the other 2 but you still get a vague understanding of her, she really shines as a character after the prologue getting progressively better as the game goes on. (had to cut a lot to stay in steams word limit)
Maelle, Hands down one of the best written Child characters I’ve seen, its on if not better then Ellie and Clementine, she has one of the best character developments I’ve seen and the portrayal by Jennifer English is phenomenal she does a fantastic job bringing Maelle to life.
(had to cut a lot to stay in steams word limit soz for it being quite bare)

Dialogue
I’ll keep it short to fit the word limit. The best and most natural dialogue I’ve ever seen, interactions between characters are so well done, at points in cutsceens I felt like I was watching a movie it was that good, genuinely the most immersing dialogue I’ve seen and the cast did a phenomenal voicing every character in this game, I didn’t have a single moment where I was “ehh that sounded bad” fantastic experience.

World
Absolutely fantastic, from the world building in the prologue and then exploring the first area after that, to the see the continent and progress through it was fantastic, and visually this game is fantastic everything you look at is beautiful, this is an UE5 game so that is expected, but it didn’t feel like every other UE5 game, there wasn’t a sense of sameness that you get from over games in this engine, this world is hand crafted to perfection. Now this is not a full open world game, you can go around the entire map but there are gates that you go through to access the main maps, which are mostly linier, for me this was a perfect blend of freedom and curated adventure.

Exploration
Exploring the world is definitely rewording and fun, though at stages it can feel a bit dull.
To expand on the open world has a lot of items and collectibles to find, which is great and the side content is really fun, personally I really enjoyed the only up course, brought back a lot of memories, thankfully this one was fun and not frustrating. Now the dull part, a lot of the things you pick up are the same, with a very few pictos, which I guess is justified with all the loot you can find by fighting mini bosses and exploring areas inside the open world, there is still a lot of the same pick-ups inside of those, but there is a lot more to find there as well, there is a lot of lore to be found by exploring the maps, not much towards the main story but rather for the expeditions prior to yours. Now what makes the exploration a bit worse is your characters and mount getting stuck on small props poking out the ground, inside the maps is not as big of a problem as you can jump, but I did find myself frustrated at times, there isn’t a lot of that but enough to mention in my opinion.

Combat
I always loved turn-based games, which my favourite being the persona series which Clair obscure is very similar to. Now the combat is very straight forward, it doesn’t take long to learn and when new characters join your team their kit is unique but easy to understand, so people won’t have a problem getting into it. That doesn’t mean that its simple and boring though, the synergies you can have with your characters are very strong, each kit is very well crafted and you can make really good combos. Now the addition of QTE was great, it always keeps you focused on the game which makes the fights feel extremely engaging, in other turn based rpg’s, you tend to spam one attack and not pay attention to what you’re fighting which for me gets extremely boring, but the addition of QTE’s got rid of all of that, Now the free aim is a cool mechanic but extremely underutilised, sure you have your enemy weak spots but you basically don’t see them after act 1, there a few here and there but not enough to have you using your gun that often, there are flying enemies who have are easier to take down with free aim, but there not as harmful as normal ones and you can still hit them with normal attacks and skill, they just feel like they’re just in the game to eat up your AP.

Performance
It’s a UE5 game performance are a normality with this engine, is it acceptable not really, but I also understand that it’s not always the dev’s fault, UE5 can be very hard to optimise so I wasn’t expecting a fully smooth experience, and the game did run well up until the open world section, there I had to switch off from using 4k and lower the resolution, the game run alright but kept crashing, I ended up playing on HDR in 1920 – 1080 on ultra which run without issue. Besides that, I didn’t have any issues after that. But I do have a really good PC so I can’t say how it’ll run on other machines. Plus I saw on X that people have been getting soft-locked, I didn’t experience any of that so I can’t comment, I just wanted to include this information say that it can happen and al you can do to fix it is to load a previous safe file.

Music
I didn’t have this topic at first but I have few words left to spare so, 33/10 soundtrack, the music is absolutely phenomenal, best OST I’ve ever heard.

The game in this state is an absolute pile of trash, the only time it felt worse was when CS:GO first lunched in 2012, Valve's anti-cheat is a joke does absolutely f-all, the only big updates are just new skins, and the Concord devs would probably do a better job at improving this joke a of game then Valve is right now. So just play Valorant instead, you might get epilepsy from all the abilities, but at least the game feels like it's been made by a company and not few guys in a shed.
