We might not be able to truly say for sure who had a hand in the creation of B4B, although again, I think the game speaks for itself in that regard. Textures are obviously not everything, as I have pointed out in my review; the animations and writing are also not up to scratch, and whether that's the fault of the engine or the developer team, or both, it doesn't hold up as well as L4D.
Fair enough, online-only was an oversight on my part. As for weapon tiers, allow me to clarify: by "weapon tiers" I meant to say weapon rarities, the usual white-green-blue-purple-orange system implemented in other games. I'd say I still prefer L4D's weapon tier system over B4B's rarity system, though.
I think we are ultimately going to agree to disagree, but I appreciate your comments.
The only substantial evidence he proved is that Source can do what Unreal Engine can't.
You can't know for sure who contributed how much to the game. Only Valve and TR themselves can know this and make such statements. Valve is known for their development teams going into projects and leaving them freely as long as they personally interested in it. The core of L4D has always been TR, and B4B proves this by gameplay design, which none of those who are more interested in looking at textures under a magnifying glass have not reached yet.
Btw, B4B is not online-only, and L4D2 also has weapon teirs.
If you're still playing, I hope to see you ingame sometime. Maybe you can help show me just how good the gameplay is with a broken perk build or something.
As for the gameplay, I'm considering expanding upon that too, after playing for a while and being impressed at B4B's fleshing out of melee mechanics and other benefits of the card system. It's nice to have a skill to break out of grapples on your own, since this game STILL suffers from teammates who can lack the situational awareness to help you quickly (or at all, lmao). However, I'm afraid that if it takes me the projected time to do so, the game servers could very well be shut down by that point.
"I watched Crowbcat's video, and now I'm going to long and tediously nitpick to every little insignificant thing proving that L4D was better in it."
At least this one mentioned card system. Huge progress. At this rate you will get to the actual gameplay in few years. Looking forward to it.
