Contrary to what many will say, I enjoy the game as a whole. Sure, the story is not as spectacular in the script-writing department, but the overall story with the Calypso Twins is actually enjoyable to me. Many old faces and some new are introduced to the game and it still has some funny moments. What I like most (and many people will agree) is the gameplay.
Things take a little bit longer to kill, it seems, which is more enjoyable to me. The animation for the health bars decreasing when you shoot an enemy is so smooth and was the most impressive thing for me when I first loaded the game. The graphics are very nice, and I do feel like it's worth of being called a "modern" game graphically. It also runs incredibly smooth on my computer, although I have a 9700k CPU and 2080 Super GPU, so that's not very fair of me to say. I am glad I waited for Steam and that there was such a huge discount for the release. I've only played 3/4 of the initial heroes and I have enjoyed the gameplay and talent trees of them. The game difficulty seems a bit too easy for me, an experienced Borderlands player, but really ramps up when you can get 4 people playing together. I am looking forward to more DLC being released and hope that Torgue can play a larger role, since that was my favorite DLC from BL2 and has some of the best line/scripts.
Overall, ignore the naysayers about this game. It will keep you invested and playing for a good amount of time if you like looter-shooters/Borderlands series. Maybe it's not quite on the same level with BL2 yet in some ways, but it definitely scratches an itch that has been itching since I completed all of the DLC and nearly 3-400 hours of BL2 years ago.
