Oh, and I just found this on the uTest page as well: http://university.utest.com/ which could be very handy for learning more.

If you do decide to try it out and you want to get a bit of experience, there is crowd-sourced testing organised at http://www.utest.com/ where you can make yourself available to test other people's products and you actually get paid for it as well, so that would be a low-risk way of trying your hand at it to see if it's your cup of tea.

Hey, just following up on our conversation about software testing. If you want to know more about it, you can download the ISTQB foundation level syllabus here: http://www.istqb.org/downloads/syllabi/foundation-level-syllabus.html That is the really dry, boring actual stuff that you need to know to get the first level of qualification in the industry. It'll introduce you to the concepts and jargon like statement coverage etc. that you can then research to find out what they mean. It will take a fair amount of time to slog through it all, and it might not be the best place to start if you're just trying to figure out if you're actually interested in it or not. It would be the best place to start for someone who has decided that this is what they want to do. If you want to get a bit of a feel for it first, you could try having a read through some of the articles and things here http://nztester.co.nz/NZTester_Magazine.html and see if it captures your interest.
