DOOM: Dark Ages is a love letter to Doom fans. The new combat system is much toned down compared to DOOM Eternal, but still retains the intensity and violence. No quickswapping, no PB + Rocket and SSG + Ballista combos. No dashing and double jumps, you strafe and sprint. Instead of dashing to avoid projectiles/attacks, you parry them with your shield and stagger them.

The story is there, sentinel knights and makyrs are cool and all. But we all bought this game for the gameplay, and it's fantastic.

Must-buy for fans of the Doom franchise. 10/10

This DLC includes:

• 1 new primary
  
• 1 new melee weapon
  
• 1 new perk deck
  
• 2 new playable characters
  
• 4 new masks

The new primary, The Airbow, was one of the best weapons in the game before Overkill nerfed it's concealment. With this concealment nerf, this weapon's compatibility with certain builds diminished significantly. Now, the primary is mostly used for fun or memes, as there are better choices than it on high difficulties.

Basically a reskin of the Great Sword in The Chivarly Pack, slow charge time and slow swing time. Avoid this.

Honestly, the concept of Tag Team perk deck seems amazing, however, the execution was terrible. The perk deck is mediocre at best. I'd say its only viable in Mayhem and below.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ethan and HIla as people, but their voice acting in this is garbage. Not only is their voice acting garbage, their actual lines are cringy, awkward, and cheesy.

I dislike the designs of the four masks. They are bland, boring, and has no unique features to separate it from other clown masks. It's as if they just copy and pasted stock clown masks on google and modeled them.

Overall, this DLC is not worth purchasing, as all this DLC includes items you won't even use.

Never played any of the Doom(s) before DooM 2016?

Doom and Doom II in this version aren't as good as the original ports, as some aspects of the game are censored to comply with germany's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ censorship laws. Also, it isn't a great modern port, as the game is locked at 30 FPS and 640x480. This comes with an expansion to Doom 2 that is pretty good.

Doom 3 in this version is better than the standalone version, as it isn't as dark and "scary" as the original port was. You also can use guns while having your flashlight on. More ammo and health is placed in maps as well.

If you're a newcomer to the Doom franchise, definitely get this game and be reminded of the game that kicked ass in 1993, 1994, and 2004.
