All in all a pretty fun game and good way to kill an afternoon or two. Gets a bit stale quicker than I'd like, and also has some mechanics that just don't seem to work like they should - namely, houses on different levels not counting adjacent tiles on lower or higher levels, mana siphons not being able to extract from crystals, etc. It feels like it could have used a little more time in the oven, but isn't bad by any means.

PROS:
Decent sound design - soundtrack is nothing to write home about, but is fairly unique and has its own personality. However, there aren't many tracks and you're likely to hear them all in a short amount of time.

Art and assets are unique and cohesive.

Gameplay has potential for depth that is unfortunately unrealized at this time.

CONS:
Shipbuilding: This is probably why you'd buy the game. "Intuitive ship design controls" could not be further from the truth. I am not new to the genre, nor to control schemes, and can confidently say this is one of the LEAST intuitive design schemes I have ever seen. It's clunky, the keybindings are frankly horrid - (ctrl + , to rotate, for example) - Moving parts around is likely to delete them, and they must remain connected to the ship at all times. Placing doors will automatically remove other doors. Parts may lose function for reasons that are not immediately apparent. Games like Reassembly are worlds ahead in UI design.

The largest gripe I have is that all ship modules need doors to connect to corridors to receive power and ammo, etc - and all modules have a fixed door location you can rotate. The game has the option to add doors, but you can only put them where the game designates doors can go - which is almost always one side of a square. This essentially making the ability to add doors next to useless, as well as restricting all ship designs to "A long hallway connected to rooms". ADDITION: I am, and was, aware that you can rotate modules with right click.

Gameplay: Combat is binary and uninteresting. Effectively- ships point one direction and shoot in one direction. Your ship shoots automatically. You fly at another ship and hope it blows up first, and you repeat that until you're tired of it.

Mining is similarly milquetoast, as well as an ineffective way to play the game. If you want to mine to avoid combat, it likely won't work. You'll make 1/5th of the progress and then combat will come find you. Your ship storage modules aren't big enough to hold much of anything, either.

Missions are invariably "Go here, kill this", except when they are "Take X to Location."

You can assign crew priorities, but the UI For doing this is frankly, painful - and there's no real reason that you'd want to do it as the game is designed, barring extremely large ships - at which point, that level of control is largely unneeded.

Overall: It's extraordinarily simplistic and offers very little in the way of gameplay.

Okay, first of all - this is a very fun game, but it needs some TLC.

The UI is almost entirely mouse-only, and it's a bit of a hassle to navigate.

The AI is in desperate need of an overhaul - people will not repair in a way that makes any sense unless manually directed to, and when they're done, they won't go back to man whatever system they were on - they'll just stand there, doing nothing, most times.

Injured Crewmembers won't go to the medbay on their own. You have to send them to operate it, and there is no queue system- if you don't send them all at once, the rest will just go stand in it, and won't recieve any healing. Then you have to wait a VERY long time while it heals them, sending in a crewmember one-by-one, and for large crews this can take 5 or 6 minutes. Of just clicking, and waiting. It is not fun gameplay, and there should be an option for the crew to go to the medbay when they're hurt on their own.

The AI is the biggest problem with this game- I once lost a run because 9/10ths of my crew were all trying to repair the same small hole in the hull - and only one unit can actually repair it at a time. The weapon systems are fun, but hard to control - they'll keep firing, even without auto-fire toggled on. Stop-Fire doesn't always work.

Crewmembers walk PAINFULLY slowly through the ship, and when coupled with the hit-or-miss AI, it can be a nightmare to manage your ship at all.

I give this game a tentative 4.5/10 overall, in the hopes that these issues will be ironed out in updates. It's a fun game, but the headaches of figuring out the un-intuitive UI and managing the frustratingly inept AI crewmembers take a lot of enjoyment out of an otherwise engaging game.

However, Early-access steam games are a bit of a crapshoot in terms of Dev dedication, so it remains to be seen if these issues will be addressed or not.

As for now, the playability, game balance, and UI issues are a bit too much to warrant a positive review. If these issues are addressed, I'll update my review accordingly.

Game is very fun, if guilty of a bit of hand-holding.
HOWEVER: The game crashes, without fail, somewhere in the very last phase of the second mission. You then have to replay the whole thing from the very start, as there is no save option or autosave feature until you complete it. After the third time consecutively crashing at the boss fight and restarting entirely, I was finished. I have a very capable computer and am dissapointed. I cannot play this game, and I really would like to. But it's incredibly frustrating to keep trying to brute force through the crashing at the same point, without fail.

Polished, presentable, solid mechanical foundation. Also a hell of a lot of fun, with just the right balance of RNG; the game will continue to surprise you for a good while, without feeling entirely dependent on luck. A great buy at the price, a must have on any sale.

After playing this game for only a few minutes, I can tell you xactly what is wrong and right with it.

Graphics, music, upgrades, design, variety = All present, all decent.
The problem is the controls. They're tricky at best and frustrating and unresponsive at worst, and in a game where that's your SOLE mechanic, it simply can't be overlooked. It doesn't mattre how good the other aspects are if the driving game mechanic is undeerperforming or even broken.

Th mouse control makes this game challenging for all of the wrong reasons.

This game is worth every penny I spent on it.

Right upon firing it up, I found myself just enthralled by the beautifully painted world that hit me like the idyllic lovechild Bob Ross painting and harvest moon; plus slimes.

For starters, the game is well crafted, both in terms of playability and cohesive envrioment. Nothing about this game feels "Early Access" in the slightest. It's solid, polished, and a whole lot of fun.

The game oozes talent and wit; and it's an abosolute romp to play no matter your age, genre preference, or predisposition to slimes.

I want to like this game, I really really do. The premise is enticing, the bones are... present; but the execution falls flat, even for an early access game. The control scheme and UI are frustrating on a fundamental level, and the absolute lack of control and understanding given to the player renders the game nigh unplayable.

Bugs are present as well, and in my fraction of an hour of playtime, I encontered invisible ships, weapons, and projectiles. my weapons would (nearly always) stop firing, or cease to work entirely. I really wanted to sink in more time before writing this review to give the game a fair shot - but honestly, I couldn't bring myself to; and that's a resounding testament to the game's playability.
