Great open world sandbox for kids. Takes only the good parts from GTA.

Sort of "A Short Hike" clone but with the added chore of being the cameraman all the time (manually rotating/tilting the camera, tweaking camera distance). This makes it unplayable for young kids or older adults; you may get motion sickness if you're not already used to console platformers. Also, there's WAY too much text.
In "Hike", the camera would dynamically adjust to show the environment, and text was short, never more than a line or two.
I was interested in the new mechanics like crafting, sliding and mock combat, but the camera issues are a deal breaker.

Great arcade shooter, sort of a Robotron-like with random weapons, danmaku-style enemy waves, and endlessly scrolling levels.
Be warned that game sessions are not that short even if you play just one level, because the timer is paused rather frequently (waiting for lootboxes to open with a long animation, or for the player to choose upgrades on level-up), so it isn't so good as a coffee-break game.

It has all you want in an overlay and more, for a fair price. But the most important thing for me, is that you can resize almost any part of the interface.
Don't give up if you can't get it working at first; I got some bugs like the tutorial not showing and the VIVE controls not doing anything, but it's worth it searching for answers in the forums and discord.
Now if they add the option to resize literally anything on the wrist interface and let it remember the setting, this will be perfect.

Very addictive tower defense game with beautiful anime-style artwork. It takes advantage of the 3d/vr thing by having multiple parallel lanes with elevators you can use to move your towers between height levels.
Another nice thing about this game is that you can play it even if you have little space in your room; you rotate the tower in front of you instead of having to physically move.
Also, the time it takes to play a stage is perfect. It's around ten minutes, but you end up losing and restarting a lot, and after a while immersed in the action of managing your cute little towers you don't notice you've played for half an hour or more.

Insufficient documentation, occasional bugs, unwieldy interface... yet it's so cool it's worth it !

Simple real-time multiplayer fun to be had with a friend either head-to-head or online. A very nice polished package. Not really meant for serious competitive play.

A fighting game, simplified down to only two buttons: Dive and Kick, without any kind of directional input whatsoever.
I've always been interested in one-switch games (see www.oneswitch.org.uk ) but found that a second switch does not diminish accessibility all that much while allowing for a lot more complexity, and here it shows how you can make a complete competitive game that you could still play even if you lost the ability to move a mouse or joystick.

Accessibility is not all the game has, though. As others have pointed out, fighting games usually use inputs so complex that even a seasoned gamer cannot hope to participate competitively without lots of physical practice and some sense of innate coordination not everyone has. So Divekick gives you a chance to level the playing field.

Just make sure to find a friend or two who are willing to play - since the online community for this game is very small, it will be too hard for a newbie to find a skill-matched opponent.

A great turn-based wargame, simple to learn but hard to master, supporting asynchronous multiplayer (a huge plus in my book) and with an active player community.
Since it is based on an old-style tabletop wargame ruleset, it sports an impressive array of different units and factions, enough to spark your interest in history while keeping you entertained with variety and thinking of what-if scenarios.
There is a bit of a learning curve but most of the stuff is covered between the (extensive pdf) manual and in-game tutorial. The only negative I could think of, is that the user interface can be a bit hard to use, with a lot of obscure hotkeys and sub-windows which you can activate by mistake and never know how you got there. But most of that stuff is optional; the game can be played entirely with the mouse.
I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys turn-based tactics, and especially to people who would enjoy playing tabletop wargames but cannot find opponents to play in person. Due to the asynchronous feature, you don't even need to coordinate the time; just make your moves after coming back home from work.
