I'm no expert specifically on blender or source filmmaker but we're currently as a part of the modding work trying to cut through all the red tape to be able to make among other things
the character models available for any user generated content. Unfortunately though, we have no time table for when/if this happens.

I'll make a query specifically for filmmaking and see if that changes things.
