7/10 IMO, Plenty of new content + a new map, but if I'm being honest I enjoyed it less than the first game (9/10). Shooting seems to center a lot more to gameplay, but I'm not a fan of 3rd person shooters at all so I did not appreciate it. Played on hard mode, which made the bosses very spongey and affected the general gameplay very little to what I could notice, DS1 had some of my favorite boss battles I've ever played but apart from the first and last battle I did not enjoy any of them in this game. The fire/earthquake/rockslide mechanics were really cool but you don't really see them outside of 1 or 2 missions. Story wise it's a lot weaker than the first one, maybe it's because I hate love triangle stories but I didn't find it anywhere as interesting as the first game. Also "Claptrap: Japan Edition" talks way too much for the game's setting/mood, really hope we won't see him again.

Edit: 6/10. Trying to 100% the game is miserable solely because of the boss battles. "press x to dodge and then aim at le weakpoints" generic sony third-person action gameplay may work in other settings but between the slow move speed, chore of using the weapon swapping/retrieving/healing UI, MASSIVE stun duration after a single hit, and most importantly the fact all your equipment gets destroyed after a loss. I understand there's a need to "evolve past the save/load system" but it's an insanely punishing mechanic when everything costs resources and you have to spend 15+ minutes re-equiping your weapons at the nearest shelter. This is the first game I have ever changed lowered the difficulty and it's a damn shame but I hate the monster fights too much to spend any more time on them.

Great little pve co-op extraction shooter but you're managing a spaceship as well. Fun rogue-lite elements planning your travel path with different loot, encounters, enemies and obstacles. Great set pieces/locations.

Flying/ship combat is great, player movement is decent, maintenance and loot gathering are varied and interesting without being annoying, great fun with friends.

I'm not finishing this game, better use of my time to just play Dead Space 1 again. 0 redeeming features or reasons to continue playing. I came in blind 12 years after release and played the whole trilogy in succession. Reading how this game was received at the time and in retrospect it was 100% correct.

Death of the DS art style. Death of the DS gameplay loop. Horrible performance, worse than the first two. Forced EA app connectivity. Microtransactions. Horribly broken breadcrumb system that will short out during enormous space walk missions and fail to work in certain rooms requiring consulting a walkthrough. Corpses suffer from horrible physics jank. Hard to loot corpses when they bounce around the map like a superballs on methamphetamine. "How to play deadspace" taking 2 hours instead of having a skippable tutorial at the beginning of the game makes me feel like the target audience doesn't care about dead space and has the IQ of a mineral. New ammo boxes look like they were lifted from the lego version of the game. Binding "climb nearby ladder" and "pick up ammo" to the same button make for some very frustrating situations.

Cast of characters are uninteresting and talk enough to seriously affect the horror aspect of the game. I don't care about my new girlfriend, where is my wife.

Invincible enemies are 2 hours into this one. They pose almost 0 threat but "endless ammo pit" in a game this early with limited ammo and microtransactions to grant ammo sucks (the bot mechanic is dumb).

Why are enemies not reacting when I shoot them or throw anything less than a spear? Why are normal necromorphs exploding like balloons when they die? Why are the vomit aliens everywhere sniping me from sightlines I haven't checked?

First game was a masterpiece. Second game had everything that made the first game great on paper but made some serious mistakes in an attempt to be more "cinematic". Seen many comments claiming someone at EA played Gears of War during production and let that guide the whole process for 3. Genuinely surprised to see people who directed the first game in the credits here. Damn shame.

Good game, but I enjoyed it less than the first. 6/10. Hard mode was alright, I only died to regular enemies maybe once or twice, the suicide enemies and machinery/windows were the real enemies. Where is Dead Space 2: Severed for PC EA?

The new gravity gun mechanics are cool, impaling enemies with brooms/ripping slasher claws to fight other enemies is nice. Flying is cool and allows for more dynamic exploration in this game. The beginning of the game makes you out to be an exterminator/detective but later on you get back to the unique DS feel of being a repairman trapped in a nightmare with some good puzzles. Removal of I-frames that enemies had entering the scene are thankfully gone, you can now shoot enemies as they climb/enter from vents/finish their introduction cutscene. appreciated improvement over the original. Returning to the ship in the first game was nice and didn't overstay it's welcome.

For gameplay, we see fewer lurkers(until the second act) more leapers (hard to use slower weapons on), and way less slashers (understandably a decision to separate this game from the first, but the replacements are less fun to fight). Stalker sequences are actually fun and reward careful movement and precision aim. The vomit aliens that slow you down from across the map are annoying as well, especially during the invincible enemy chases. The first game's gameplay loop of sprinting around enemies trying to find time to reload and weaving melee between careful shots doesn't exist as the new enhanced enemies move as fast as twitchers and you have no time to avoid being swarmed with their move speed.

Way more QTE's, way more high damage enemies in monster laundry chutes (drops an enemy on your head if you enter a room wrong either necessitating a reload or forcing you to take unavoidable damage). The mine aliens are an unwelcome addition for the amount of sections that use them. Slowly picking up stuff and luring out the mines is neither fun nor rewarding (no loot). The laser trip mines that can activate behind you while fighting other aliens is also very uninteresting and unfun. The amount of pitch black areas where you struggle to tell up from down also are to the detriment of the game. There's a difference between having to use the flashlight to manage your blind spots, and not being able to see a ****ing thing for huge swaths of the game.

More performance issues than the first game; Load/unload issues; destroying corpses so that infectors can't turn them into enemies was an encouraged strategy in the first game. In this game, leaving rooms to return or looping through sections of the map will restore all the corpses whose limbs you destroyed to prime infector real estate. Very annoying punishment that negates game play. You will also notice trying to carry stasis/explosive barrels from area to area for future fights will also make the barrel disappear.

More save reloads necessary than the first game. This game has some serious issues with elevators loading upside down/broken, crashes when pausing during cutscenes and reloading saves during death animations.

Story wise we don't learn much more than we read in the first game; for characters Isaac speaks a lot more, to very little end. He doesn't need to freak out at every necromorph in the beginning, I already played the first game. "WHAT IS THAT" An animated corpse Isaac, you're supposed to be an old hand at this by now.

Ellie is annoying, for a game that likes to bait tropes and then invert them, "badass lady soldier shows up and immediately talks down to the player likes he's an idiot and doesn't need his help and is now central to the plot" is overdone. Arguing with you more than the villains from the first game does not make her tolerable in any capacity. She gets her redemption at the end of the game but I'm not looking forward to seeing her again.

"Press E to forgive your dead wife" doesn't get the humiliation "press F to pay respects" got and I think it deserves it. Every attempt at a poignant moment with her after that has no emotional weight because I'm expecting a qte. A heads up for when I'm given any agency during a cutscene and can steer myself/move would also be nice.

The mining machine ride may be my favorite sequence in both games, great use of mechanics and pacing. The final fight may be one of the worst experiences I have had in a triple-AAA adventure game in a long time. Queueing an endless enemy mode (who will trigger a cutscene that instantly kills you if more than 2 surround you) where you have to shoot a flying boss while your instant-kill wife teleports in front of you while you desperately try to reload, right after another invincible enemy chase that drained me down to 40 rounds for my rifle and a single healthkit meant I died more times in the final fight than I did the entire story in hard mode. Trying to skip the same death animation with a save reload glitched the fight so I had to watch as isaac shoot himself in the head 20 times. If I hadn't tried to beat it for an hour I would have beaten DS2 faster than the first game so I'm suspicious this was a decision to pad playtime.

9/10 action adventure game. I don't typically play third person horror survival games but this one is fantastic.

Story is good, characters are interesting and the puzzles/enemy variety makes for a decent 12 hour gameplay.

Controls are a bit slow+sticky but it adds to the overall feel rather than taking away from it and makes you feel claustrophobic.

For performance there isn't anything bad enough that the remake is a necessity, once you get past the first fight with VSYNC on I didn't experience any glitches.

Pros: 14 years of content on a top-down roguelike with fascinating combinations
Cons: Dev's "chew slower" mentality of making sure your options are a bad run or a somewhat less bad run can make a huge portion of the game a chore if you haven't been playing along for a decade.

Phenomenal movement shooter with some light loadout strategy elements & driving/flying.

Very crunchy violence with a huge skill ceiling on movement and a fun chainsaw slide mechanic. Great art syle, unique enemies, clever level design, absolutely worth the price.

Condensed roguelike tower defense game with some very creative interactions with towers that let you play in very unusual ways. Great little strategy game.

Legit the worst performance I've had in a game in a long time; Low settings: Avg 56 FPS. High Settings: Avg 48 FPS both w/ MASSIVE frame drops, stuttering, and input lag
Why is anti-cheat using upwards of 10% of my CPU's processing power while the game is running?
Ini files edits, deleting all the beta information, trying all the fixes online has done nothing.

Edit: Devs stopping the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of certain features does not mean they stopped entirely. Refresh rate on servers capped to 60 (we had 144 on BF4), tiny maps that encourage corner camping and grind vehicle combat to a halt, a dozen ads to click through when you open the game, serious hit detection issues, a horrible UI (if you unlock an attachment through a challenge you need to manually click "acknowledge" on every single weapon in game, even ones you don't have), no map vote system, a tagging system that is wrong more often that not. These are all failures previous entries in the series did not have, and we have very little to show in terms of progress other than the revive dragging feature and more reflection graphics. A new entry should be made in the hopes of better and new mechanics and gameplay, not more monetization methods to squeeze every dollar they can from consumers who already spent SEVENTY us dollars.
