Pretty good game

I liked the combat, the dodge mechanic is pretty fun
I liked the story though it felt a bit short
I didn't like the level design, it felt a bit too linear

i had quite a mixed experience playing this game. more often than not the handling drove me insane but there were moments where i was actually having quite a bit of fun.

when the handling is working the way it should, it feels great, and chaining drifts is hella satisfying. but the default handling setup on most cars feels super inconsistent: sometimes your car won't drift unless you slam the brakes and turn like crazy, but then sometimes it'll start swerving out of control on straight roads. i abandoned the game twice out of frustration and only picked it back up thanks to this setup.

once you get a good setup and get a feel for drifting.. it's a decent game. but honestly your time would probably be better spent playing something else.

if you do decide to play this though do yourself a favor and install it on an ssd.

i did end up liking this song from the soundtrack so there's that

they also managed to not cap the fps at 30 unlike need for speed rivals so good job i guess

+ Melee combat is fun
+ Traversal feels good (skateboarding!)
+ Side content is fun and rewarding
+ Great soundtrack

Cons
- Story starts strong but loses steam
- Certain missions are tedious particularly later in the game
- Prone to crashing - get SilentPatch and save often

The story is OK - chapters 2 and 3 are boring while chapters 4 and 6 are good
The combat is OK
Movement is unresponsive and looting items is very slow
The map is empty and exploring is boring
