Yes. I know you can just "go on memorise" or find some other random place to study the Hiragana. And yes I know some people only take 2-4 hours to remember all the Hiragana. But that's boring as hell and so textbook. Once you've learned Hiragana and Katakana you're going to be spending most of your time with your face inside of a textbook, so why not enjoy the first few weeks of studying Japanese?

It's been almost two years since I first started studying Japanese and I still remember the fun I had when playing through both Hiragana Battle and Katakana War. Not that JPN isn't fun--because I find it a lot more enjoyable than wasting time in competitive gaming--but you're going to have a hard time finding anything else that hasn't been "gamified" that isn't Hiragana or Katakana.

Anyway, enough about Japanese--lets talk about this game.

It's not that good to be honest, well compared to Katakana War at least. If this is your first Sleepy Duck game then you won't notice the difference of course. If you've already played Katakana War then this game is going to be pretty disappointing because this game isn't even half as much fun as that game. But, it's a start. And it's still fun. So if you haven't played any "Learn Japanese to Survive!" games, then definitely pick this up.

To be honest, even though Kanji Combat's characters aren't memorable at all, I still feel like I remember the characters from there better than here. Though it has been over a year since I've played this game so it's understandable but I still remember characters from Katakana War so then again, maybe it's not.

I mentioned that I still listen to that soundtrack that plays during lessons which I put into a one hour loop and I still use it to this day when I'm studying JPN. I heard this soundtrack in another game but I can't remember which, so I think it's one of those royalty free soundtracks. Either that, or the other game I played stole the soundtrack from this game and used it in theirs. Nonetheless, I've uploaded a one hour edit of that soundtrack onto a site--just ask me if you want it.

I'm going to end this the same way I ended my Katakana War review. If you're looking for the most useful "Learn Japanese to Survive!" game, get this game. If you're looking for the most fun "LJTS" game, get Katakana War.
