I would LOVE this game, however right now it just doesn't work on Linux. The background not being transparent is an issue in most of these kind of games, so I wasn't expecting that to work. However whenever you focus another window it grabs focus back and it only registers inputs when it's in focus. Leaving a negative review for now to hopefully get this seen by the devs, it's nothing against the game itself ^^

Was pretty fun, but it doesn't get updated anymore, wouldn't recommend it in it's current state

Marauders had a ton of potential, but it's as good as dead. The devs clearly don't care for the game at all.
Don't even bother.

2025 update: game seems to be completely abandoned, DON'T BUY

After previously having given a negative review, I'd like to change it to a positive one. All the issues I had with the game have been fixed. Those mainly being the matchmaking/matches being unstable and putting players of drastically differing ranks against each other. The game definitely still has bugs where my controller is unresponsive or some of the menu's freeze up. But despite that it's probably the best platfighter out there at the moment.

For transparency I'll leave my previous review here:
I would recommend Rivals 2, however the matchmaking and consistent bugs/lag are making that really difficult. Getting ranked versus people at rank 1200 consistently when I'm struggling to even get past 700 is demoralizing as all hell. And then when I do get matched versus someone on my rank, they turn out to already be a pro that's just climbing the ladder at mach speed to get to people that play at their level.
I get that the game isn't about winning, but about improving. However if I'm constantly getting curb stomped, what am I supposed to do? Train vs bots all day until I can maybe play a couple of fair matches at some point..?

My favorite extraction shooter of all time. There's a perfect balance between being casual/accessible and being hardcore. The stakes for dying aren't bad enough to rage quit after you die, but it definitely makes you sweat when you're pinned between a boss and another team. Best gun play in any game ever in my opinion.

GOTY

I don't have that much time put into this game just yet, but man am I already having a blast! It plays similar enough to the original, but with different movement and feel. Playing it feels like playing the original for the first time all over again. Seeing the cutscenes from the original re-imagined actually gave me chills. D-Pad Studio and Savant, thank you for the amount of effort you've put into both the game and the soundtrack <3

Better than drugs and I freaking LOVE drugs

As someone who bought Rust in early access; it's definitely NOT worth 40 bucks, even in full release. It very clearly is a 20 dollar game and I'd only suggest buying it when its on at least 50% sale.
