Honestly, extremely promising and fun game. Great idea and concept, this genre works perfect for this kind of game and I look forward to the full release.

Something I really don't like at the moment though is the rampant cheating. Half of the fights just don't feel fair at all. People have ships 3-4x the size of mine with way more upgrades and there's absolutely no way we were playing with the same amount of resources available. Hopefully this is fixed somehow and gameplay feels a little more fair for release, but overall very promising demo.

At the moment, don't buy it. I've had several crashes, stutters and tons of bugs all throughout so far. How did this game make it past the QA phase?

Nearly every weapons damage to reload ratio is horrible. Expect to reload at least once per-enemy with most weapons. Most of the legendary gimmicks are interesting, but some are so obnoxious, like the Madlad which requires complete micromanaging of a bar that is in the very bottom right of the screen. You will rarely come across something half decent though, so the game becomes semi-playable.

Whoever designed this inventory has no idea what they are doing. No other Borderlands game has ever had such a dysfunctional inventory system. It's cluttered, hard to navigate, and if you want to drop the garbage in your backpack, you'll need to hold on the item for an entire second before it's tossed. Now put 30 items in your bag and expect to be there for half a minute holding R - why R? Well because why not I guess. We already keybinded compare to that key, but oh well, lets just double them up! Annoying.

Every cutscene is stretched on an ultrawide monitor, in some cutscenes to absolutely goofy proportions. 0 thought went into any monitor ratios except for maybe the standard, but even then most UI design says otherwise.

If you try to do just about anything you can expect your FPS to tank and dip well below the 60 mark, sometimes even freezing for a few seconds mid fight.

The upscaling + antialiasing makes anything 5 feet away from you flicker like crazy. This isn't a finished product and has no right to be called a release. If anything this is an early access alpha in its current state. Right now this is a cooky cutter Unreal 5 project with a high budget art team and a gameplay team that just played a bunch of Halo Infinite.

So far the characters, story and pacing all feel good surprisingly, I actually have very few complaints here. Playing on hard mode nearly every boss has been just a simple bullet sponge with a cinematic that plays them up like previous games, but absolutely no mechanics or grit to back them up. There was maybe 1 or 2 interesting fights in total, which is very underwhelming sadly and a lot of missed opportunities which I have to assume is due to rushing the game out.

If/when the game gets fixes to this stuff I'll change my review, but I have a feeling a lot of these bugs are here to stay and performance likely is always going to be rough if it's this bad out of the gate. What an absolute insult to ask me for $134 USD and hand me this.

Seriously though. Base price $70 USD and your campaign is at best 8 hours long. Sure there's plenty of optional side content, but optional side content doesn't progress anything and is almost always just some sort of comedic gag that offers you stilted rewards. Then offering the "full bundle", so you can actually play all of the content, is $134 USD. I wish I could refund and just pick the game up on sale at a later date.

As of right now don't buy it. Wait for a sale because this plays like a $45 game. The crashes are non-stop so unless you like the Unreal crash report screen, avoid for now. I plan to play a bit more through the story and tough it out because I am sort of enjoying it, but for price vs value, the value is not hitting the mark as of now.
