yeah, it's a walking sim, but i'd say the story more than makes up for it, as well as the acting and artstyle. half the people leaving negative reviews don't seem to have any concept of "making an informed purchase" since it's pretty damn clear from the store page it's a narrative-centric walking sim lol. don't order a salad if you don't like vegetables :P

i would say "buy this before Popcap/EA delists it in favor of Replanted" but let's be real; there's not a chance in hell any money is going to the original creators anyway, just pirate it

the artstyle is charming and fun and the music kicks all kinds of ass but god, playing the actual game is an exercise in tedium and frustration. it's not even the difficulty that's the problem (i like hard games), it's the fact that Every arrow on the screen (Of Which There's A Few™) knocks you on your back for a full second gets so old so quick. Couple that with all the other things that basically rip control from you while you're trying to play (you don't need to move while swinging your sword, right?), and you find yourself giving up on the game altogether around the halfway(?) point.

maybe it's fun with friends but that's true for anything; if you wanna play singleplayer, don't bother, you'd get the same experience playing any other beat em' up if you put on a Newgrounds playlist and unplugged your controller every time you took more than a stubbed toe's worth of damage

idk if i've gotten better at video games in the past two years or if this mod makes the game easier but i remember struggling so much more on easy in vanilla than i did on medium here.

this is the most autistic game i have ever played in my entire life

there's a lot that i personally would've done differently to make this game a more focused and deep experience, but ultimately, it's a fun game that i recommend checking out if you aren't against installing QOL mods for a first-time playthrough. (seriously, this game is miserable in pure vanilla)

(unrelated sidenote but i got rlly into this game in the summer of 2022 (like, 300 hours played in a handful of weeks) to the point where the smell of my room's window being open makes me think of this game)
