A fair warning to potential buyers, but 'almost criminal' is ridiculous. Steam is a distributor. They make no promises (unlike some other sites) that products they carry will be optimized to run on current operating systems. You might as well complain that a Win7 game you picked up in a brick-and-mortar store didn't run on your iPad. It's a buyers responsiblity to determine if a product will run on their OS - which happens to be why most older games have discussions pertaining to just that right here on the steam forums.
