GRID 2019 starts off very career-focused and honestly it’s absolutely incredible. The game takes you through different racing styles within the WSR format and nails the vibe completely. It’s a massive step up from every previous GRID title, even Autosport and GRID 2. The career and offline experience are where this game really shines and it’s clear a lot of care went into how it plays.

The G29 wheel mapping is flawless, it worked straight away with no hassle. The first thing I did when I booted the game was crank the AI difficulty to Very Hard, turned off ABS, traction control, stability control and flashbacks to zero to really push myself to improve.

I also turned on full and terminal damage. I left the racing line on but set to corners only and ran manual with clutch. The shifting works beautifully especially compared to earlier games where it would lag or delay gear changes in exotic sequential cars. It’s tight, responsive and just feels right.

Visually the game is stunning. I’m running it at 3840x1080, 144Hz, 32:9 and haven’t experienced a single lag spike or frame drop. It’s buttery smooth with no bottlenecks.

I had just finished a race at Brands Hatch and I was blown away, not just by how it looks but by the sheer amount of new courses I hadn't seen before. There’s off-road, rallycross, street racing event circuits. There are also proper racetracks like Lydden Hill, Silverstone and more.

The track variety is honestly the best the series has ever seen.

Only downside is multiplayer is basically dead so if you're looking for online action, you're better off going back to Autosport. But if you're here for the solo experience, this game is an absolute must-play.
