You're among the elite of space marines, and you get a suit of terminator armor. one of the most thrilling things in my mind from the 40k grimdark universe... and this game somehow successfully makes it boring.

The terminids reduce your turbo powerful terminator armor to appear like its made of wood, weapons are very limited in both choice and projectiles. The Terminator armor also has a host of features on paper that are not present in this game. you have no cyclone missile launchers, no ultra durability, and no chain fist.

but the worst part, bar none, is that you *must* always have an apothecary in the squad. and the apothecary's weaponry is limited and boring to use. it is a chore, and not an interesting one.

the cadence of enemy spawns is also not really something that was given much thought to - its just an endless dump of trash mobs, built to wear you down.

then your gun jams.. (lmao elite terminators given faulty weaponry. the tech priests will be executed for this heresy)

Anyways, the diehard collector will enjoy this. its 40k to the core, the textures, dark macabre maps, the space hulk look great.

its just boring as hell.

if you're willing to look past those flaws, and look down the tunnel of an incredibly long grind to rank up your terminator armor suits for the different classes, i'm sure this game would be rather appealing for you.

for me, I think i'd rather do just about anything else. So its a 'recommend' from me. only just.

because i can still praise the emperor while my crap suit of armor that is somehow of terminator cadre gets eaten by low spec gene stealers.

well.

this game is one that i still own the disc for (and it still works) and i've made a digital copy of my disc years ago so i could keep playing even after the disc turns to garbage.

its a really good game, guys. it is the most infuriating, yet satisfying game you can play.

if you want the 'difficulty' from 1998, you have to play on tactician mode. and be prepared to lose.

going into some battles, you don't know the enemy team composition or various problems that will arise, so save before you go in, or you'll regret it.

you're going to need to spend time grinding and powercreeping your characters to advance sometimes, and you're going to need to reload a few saves. i believe death is permanent for non special characters. so keep that in mind.

square made it really accessible with an 'easy' mode that even removes weapons from some enemies for insurance, but .. its still not 'face roll easy', as some things such as inexperience, cannot be mitigated..

there is an insane (rabid) modding community for this, as we are long time cultists for this game. so expect some amazing stuff coming soon.

i think this iteration did a wonderful job, they blew the budget on the english voice actors, and stayed true to the original game (despite patching a few of my favorite exploits). there is a push for restoring older translations, and some ui changes - so please expect these in future mod releases!

and if you're sad there isn't a turbo difficulty, dont worry, i'm going to cook up a class randomizer, and a 'no crossclass' restriction mod to help turn things up to 11. i know some others are planning some horrible difficulty stuff for you as well, so , dont be sad. just be patient.

enjoy the updated graphics, and original sound and music tracks, updated textures, and ultra smooth framerates in this updated, and fantastic iteration of one of the finest defining turn based strategy games of this genre.

TLDR: Core Keeper is one of the defining titles in pixel art / farm life RPG genre, and an indispensable part of a player's collection.

Core keeper is a fantastic, cozy, pixel art masterpeice. it combines crafter/survival with the fun of farming, mining, fishing, cooking, melee, ranged, and boss fights (also your character gains skills in those as well)

this review has been a long time coming because it was difficult to find words to describe it. I just really enjoy playing it. the latest updates really made me pull the trigger on this positive review, the changes are positive, intuitive and well thought out.

The premise is that you awaken in an underground strata of some type, and there is a large monument nearby. You begin crafting the basic structures, and start bossfighting&mining&crafting&production-ing your way to victory. The xp required to reach mastery in each skill is substantial.

However, you don't need to create a new character each time. you can move your character from world to world (including classic worlds created during the early access period, i did appreciate that choice to not invalidate previous savegame states, thanks devs!)

There are various difficulty levels, and a creative mode, for those who want more or less challenge, or no challenge at all.

the map is procedural, and after you reach the final area and its open, the map will self-generate until you run out of memory on your pc. (untested, 32gb of ram takes a really, really long time to burn through. even with 4 people trying to burn it, too lol.)

doing production in the crafting structures is fun, and can also be automated if one is so inclined.

fishing. FISHING. there is fishing. and it is good. (sometimes i'll just play a fishing minigame inside a game instead of the actual game.) I rate this fishing game high on the list of fishing minigames i've played, unfortunately breath of fire 3 takes the top spot still, but core keeper is hot on its heels. it removes more tedious aspects of the process but allows you full flexibility in your approach. for example, bringing the different biome waters to your favorite fishing spot. can do.

current favorite thing to do:
set up an automated extraction outpost, and fish/farm/roast food for hours while the ore extracts AND while one of the best soundtracks i've ever listened to plays in the background? Yeah i'll take 10, please waiter.

performance wise, there's a high performance experience awaiting you, i haven't tried to play it on an old laptop yet, which is really the true test, but i believe it would run really well, with some settings reduced. (the water graphics are beautiful. whoever did that is a genius.)

anyways, i can blather on about this game for years. if you like the genre type that includes games like minecraft / stardew / animal crossing etc, I think you'd enjoy core keeper, and in my opinion it is absolutely one of those legendary titles in its own right, and very unique, you'd be missing out not to bring it into your collection.

if a Brendan Fraser 'mummy' movie was a game, this is it.

its got those comedic moments, but a pretty solid horde shooter / puzzle solver / couch co-op.

plus you can throw dynamite at your problems, its win/win.

yes, has deneuvo, but its done properly, and doesn't tank your fps like other bad implementations of drm out there.

Its smooth, the framerate is insane, and its just lightly drinking pc resources.

It's really hitting on all cylinders. i was worried about this title to be honest, sometimes a dev tries a different direction and it turns out to be a stinker.

well fromsoft don't be like that. fromsoft give you BIG GUNS, BIG EXPLOSIONS AND HUGE SWORDS.

arxan doesn't tank the fps, and neither does eac. as it is anti cheat protected and both of those can be used to detect cheats, its not a mod friendly game.

the AC assembly menu is streamlined and a lot less complex, easier to manage now. this is great because the older games were kind of an inventory hell tbh xD

this is good. its a good game.

if you're struggling on the first boss i'll publish an analysis for you later rn its boom boom time.

hint: you have a giant lasersword with unlimited ammo.

NOPE/10 very fun and engaging game where you try to find the ghosty wosty before the ghosty wosty finds you.

recommended, not for full price.

-has no anti cheat for online play,
-has drm always online required,
-has crappy controls that will get you killed just from how slowly they react,
-the police are telepathic in the 1800's,
-developer forces you to play a single way for almost everything you do, while forcing you to watch unskippable cutscenes.

Conclusion:

a lot of people are praising this from the floor to the sky, but its pretty easy for me to see they haven't played games with really good crafting systems, or games where you're given a lot of tools to solve many problems in different ways.

i'm enjoying this because of the 20 dollar price tag, i don't think there's anything rdr2 offers that isn't already out there, and performed better and faster. just not with the 1800's setting.

i figured rockstar was hiding something legendary with all the fanboy hype and the huge price tag, but i'd say this is a 5 or 6/10, not a 10/10.

a lot of guys aren't going to look past the pretty graphics and the atmosphere, which is fine by me. but i don't think a game 'looking pretty' should enable it to get an automatic 10/10 =p

simple, effective fps since 2000.

latest version features reduced clutter maps, smaller sizes, and increases the pace of the game over 1.6 and cs:s.

also, have not been 'wrongfully banned' for nearly 20 years of playing cs.

So the map is a lot smaller than The Exiled Lands. ok. its teeny weenie.

but. that comes with advantages. you're within a short jogging range (by comparison to exiled lands lol) of ALL THE ENDGAME RESOURCES. this is a bonus.

Then take Doom Eternal. And add a dash of Medieval Barbarian Booba Hammer Swinging Simulator.

And you wind up with Siptah. You won't understand it cause its a mild spoiler but you'll know it when it happens.

Siptah completely changes the gameplay of conan and turns it on its head. if you like that sort of thing, you get siptah. if you dont like that, you stay in the exiled lands and save yourself ~20 dollars.

I liked it. Because of ISLAND BOOBA.
