Hades II improves upon nearly every aspect that made Hades such a great game. This time there are two different paths to explore, each with their own bosses, along with improved difficulty options and many unique character interactions.

Instead of playing as Zagreus, you take control of Melinoë, who is seeking revenge for her family. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the ending is executed perfectly. It’s best to go into this game knowing as little as possible about the plot. You can expect excellent voice acting and well-written characters, and I never found myself bored by the story.

Hades II is a roguelike that can even appeal to players who normally don’t enjoy the genre. The game can be made significantly easier with certain items and abilities, but how quickly you finish it ultimately depends on your skill. Even when I wasn’t performing particularly well, each run still provided meaningful story progression, so it never felt like a waste of time.

This is a game you should simply play and experience for yourself. Avoid looking things up, just dive in and enjoy it.
