Cairn Demo Review

I ended up with about 3 hours of playtime in the demo, which says a lot for something meant to be around 45 minutes. I took my time exploring, planning routes, and just enjoying the climb.

I only fell to my death once, but I slipped and fell 3–5 times overall. Those moments never felt unfair, just a reminder to slow down and think. The game manages to be relaxing and funny at the same time, especially when you realize you created your own problem by choosing a bad route.

One thing I really liked was the overview of the route you took. Seeing your path after the climb makes the whole experience feel personal, like you actually solved the mountain your own way.

Climbing feels challenging without being stressful. You are free to go anywhere, experiment, and recover from mistakes, which makes the demo a great low-pressure introduction. The atmosphere, sound, and pacing all support that calm but focused feeling.

If this is just the beginning, I am definitely in for the full game.

Server-related problems, including connectivity issues and lack of features like team changing or account resets, hamper the overall experience. These limitations prevent players from fully immersing themselves in the game and enjoying it to its fullest potential, especially when trying to coordinate with friends on different teams.

Despite these drawbacks, there's a glimmer of hope. If the development team addresses these issues and polishes the game to a shine, Gray Zone Warfare could become an outstanding addition to the tactical FPS genre. After playing the first 60 hours of STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™, I have to say that I'm disappointed.
