Walk in a straight line, attack what-ever you want, die. Wash, rinse repeat. That is how the general gist of this game progresses. There isn't a whole lot of depth to the game, there aren't many weapons, aren't many variations of enemies, no characters you really connect with, the map areas are general generic type fanatasy locales, and no real story line (other than to stop The Darkness) which is stated in the opening 3 seconds of the game. However this game has something going for it... charm.

If that sounds silly just run with it for a moment. There is very little to do, or really unlock that can't be done easily. Unlike the game that drew me to this (Faster Than Light) you can unlock everything in nearly 5 hours, the remainder of the time will be playing with these unlocks. However the goofy commentary from the few NPC's you do find are enough to distract momentarily from the humdrum of walking to your right. That is where this game gets its charm from. The constant breaks in the basic mechanics of the game for a fun, light hearted gab between pixelated characters.

Finding all the secret endings and characters endings will be what make you come back to this. The small morsels of charm that you get are what will make you enjoy coming back to it. However, don't expect to be able to play this for long periods of time. I found that the game is best when played a few run throughs at a time. Any longer than that and the charm kinda wears off and the simplistic nature of the game robs from its potential.

Additional peripheries were pretty decent as well. The music is fun to listen to but after prolonged time periods begins to grate at your ears. The graphics are simple enough and give it a classic RPG feel that allows me to relive the days of early Final Fantasy's. Mechanics are simple and will be picked up with one minute of playing.
