Bare bones Megabonk Doggo.
Demo is fun, easy, short.
Mouse controls are a little buggy / controller functionality half-way works.

Didn't come across the sheep saving aspect in the demo.

It's got potential, I think it's downfall is that it's like a stripped down version of megabonk. Great game to model around, maybe the sheep saving will be a unique enough gimmick.

Worse than Hades in Every Way

I've dreaded the day I'd ever be disappointed with Supergiant Games.. This game is unfortunately it.
I waited for a significant amount time before even buying it, hesitant due to it being a sequel riding the hype of Hades (one of my favorite games of all time) So, expectations were high, along with the fear of disappointment.
Unfortunately, as sequels tend to go, Hades 2 is just an empty imitation of it's predecessor; it falls flat in every way that made Hades shine.

Right from the start, our main character Melinoë is a weak willed, annoying, grating, mindless, unfunny & pedantic drone.
Especially in the almost immediate contrast with Nemesis & Hecate; 2 females characters with strong personalities who would have been far more enjoyable as MCs.
Also, in comparison to Zagreus from Hades, who had a strong personality and grit along with an entertaining, sarcastic, self-deprecating sort of humor; Melinoë just feels like a random NPC you accidentally clicked on.

While Zagreus' task in Hades was essentially 'run away from home' -- it still manages to have such a captivating story. -VS- Melinoë, who wishes to save her whole family; and yet the story feels so... empty.
It feels more like we've been indoctrinated into a cult 'DeAtH tO cHrONoS' instead of it being our own will to save our entire family.

HOW SG managed to do a female protagonist SO DIRTY is lost on me; they have SO MANY wonderfully well rounded female characters in all of their games, and yet, we get this sad dull blob of a disgrace in a sequel to a game that should have been left as it was.

Game play feels like 'more of the same' and yet somehow worse than Hades.
The weapons are all boring, seeming to play relatively similarly to each other -vs- the very large variety in Hades that allowed for a wide range of play styles.

Everywhere Hades succeeded, this game fails. The ONLY thing that it has that is equal to Hades is the art.
In the areas where Hades was a bit trying, this game seems to double down on. It's a rogue-like, so repetition is a given, but MY GOD that's enough slices.

'Cozy' horror aesthetic, creatures, cooking stuff, & little simple puzzles.
Really cute game, short playtime. About 3-4 hours to 100%
No re-playability. Take your time and enjoy it.

The art is so cute. Gameplay loop is simple and enjoyable.
Pretty fun, relatively easy to unlock everything. Took me less than 3 hours to unlock all rats + cards with tons of cheddar to spare.
Nice game to play in the background or while watching something.
Fun to mess with builds + min/maxing -- but even then, gets as little stale after a while; though you do have a decent amount of replayability if you want to see how long you can survive in the + waves.

A little 'gym rat' that has the health cards as their main gimmick would be silly and cute.

Nice to just turn your brain off and do some silly stuff. High replayablility, decent amount of achievements/unlocks/goals to keep you playing and motivated to do more runs. Really addictive gameplay loop.
Challenges are silly/fun

Kinda hope some sort of co-op / local co-op for fun is added. even if it has no effect on your main scores/stats/achievements -- would be a fun game to play with friends.

non consequential to the actual gameplay -- personal 'con' is some of the high tier items are such garbage, and the lower tier items are rather critical to successful runs. Which is fine, just *feelsbadman* when you pass up the shiny gold item/stat for a white stat/tem because it's actually much better.

The decoration & design elements are really all this game has going for it.
So if you enjoy designing and decorating little towns/cities, with minimal challenge, this is perfect for you.
and even then, it gets a bit stale after a while... Very repetitive.
If you want any sense of meaning, purpose, or direction... maybe not the game for you.
There are resident needs and quests, which are all very easily met. If you enjoy designing your city exactly the way you want it, you end up just completing the requests off in a corner and moving or deleting everything that was requested. Which is more of a nuisance than anything else.
It's very easy to stay at 100% happiness, so villagers are constantly showing up, which allows you to be a bit more selective with who you chose to move into your town; which further increases keeping happiness so easily at 100% with a ton of 20% bonus happiness villagers.

I was enjoying it up until I had to switch to a new village & restart everything; but with a new gimmick.. Everything functioned the same except the gimmick aspect (which imho, is not enough to kill the monotony of the rest of the gameplay loop)
Each map is like it's own little micro-biome that doesn't really mesh well with the others. So you end up with rather disjointed 'districts' if you play on a map that allows every type of unlock. (i.e. sandbox)

I really don't know... Something is missing. More variety? More purpose? It's one of those games that is really amazing for the first few hours, then turns totally stale.. and I really can't put my thumb on exactly what causes it.. likely a mix of many things. "Too much of a good thing" type of problem.

Cute, silly and fun.
Game plays exactly as stated, the art is super cute. You can change the animal recordings and names.
I think it's worth it for hours of fun.

The art style, characters and spells are cool, but everything else is lack-luster.
Within half an hour I was already bored of the 'combat' -- it's relatively hack & slash / rinse and repeat.
Playing solo; the 'boss' health pool is so sponge; you might at well take a nap while you spam all your abilities for an hour.
There is a very obvious lack of content and polish in the main game, yet there's already a collection of paid skin DLC + paid character? Not very promising for future content/updates.

It's bare-bones, and it has promise.. but this isn't an EA game... it's a 25$ game that feels like a free mobile MOBA game.

Story & gameplay loop are fascinating and I'm hooked. can't wait for when it's released.

I spent an hour just connecting relevant words and gaining new ones before even moving to the next 'scene' in the demo. addictive and so terribly intriguing.
