This game is absolutely Amazing, there's a fairly large amount of content, considerable customisation for progression and choice of weapons/skills/etc.
The gameplay follows a loop similar to open world sandbox/crafting games, you gather materials, craft new stuff, use the new stuff to gather better materials and use those materials to make better stuff, however this is broken up by certain areas of the map requiring specific "artefacts" with specific upgrade levels, the artefacts themselves drop from specific elite enemies, the upgrade materials are dropped from instanced challenge dungeons, these require a lot of prep to raid and usually require multiple runs to get enough materials to move on to the next area. Overall the gameplay follows a similar formula but is different enough to set itself apart from similar games such as ARK and Valheim.

The game feels much more accessible than many other sandbox/crafting games, for example there is little-to-no penalty for death, you respawn at your home with all your items intact.
And on that note, you have an instanced "home" area which is only accessible to you and your team, you can build your stuff and store all your materials here easily, there are occasional NPC raids but otherwise your stuff is "safe", in the pvp mode other players can raid a copy of your home island and you gain or lose points based on the outcome, from my understanding you do not lose any materials/buildings from this and the raiders only find randomised loot in your chests, although I may be wrong here due to translation issues.
You can still build in the main world but your constructions are always at the risk of being destroyed by players or monsters.

This might all sound good but... after the game initially had some severe server issues in the first few days after release it seems the developers have completely abandoned the idea of having servers hosted anywhere outside of China and even then the servers are not very stable.
In addition to this the official PVP server is locked behind a season-pass-style purchase that only unlocks access for the current season. The PVE mode can be accessed freely but the game is heavily focused on the PVP gameplay.
The developers have also stopped translating any news announcements/etc. and some newer portions of the UI don't get translated till several patches after they're released.

The game is good enough to be the next big hit, but I believe it will only get there if a western publisher picks up the English version.

I get 10 FPS due to a weird compatibility issue with my GPU.
I have to wait 3-5 hours to log on each day due to server queues.

Yet I still log on each day to play.... Says it all really.

edit: ignore my play-time on here, I play the non-steam version and have over 5,000 hours of playtime.
This game has one of the best communities of any MMO I've played, (I've beta-tested over 50 MMOs and played 30-50 others).
The gameplay is smooth and the servers are pretty much lag-free.
The combat is very action-based but not so much that you need fast reflexes (for most content anyway).
The grinding speed has been gradually increased since release with the new end-game grind (lvl 200-220) being incredibly slow, not much content is locked behind lvl 201+ though, this gives more of a sense of value to the end-game lvls despite them not unlocking much.
The cash shop is very fair, there are basically no items that give stats/advantages that aren't available (in bulk) through normal gameplay, the game economy generally allows players to easily get into buying and selling cash items for in-game money if they wanted to.
The game doesn't appear dated despite being around 10 years old.

Before I start, I'd like to say that I play a lot of TCGs, some of them work well on PC (as opposed to physical cards IRL), some don't...so far I've only ever played ONE other TCG that was designed specifically for PC (i.e. that wouldn't work as an IRL card game) that I really enjoyed, in its current state this game is exctremely good but without playing it for longer I'm unsure as to whether or not it'll get boring after extended play.
Now for the actual Review:
Duelyst is an excellent TCG-style strategy game which, unlike many other free-to-play games in this genre manages to handle microtransactions in a fair way.
While there's a lot of cosmetic items such as emotes and re-skins available exclusively for cash, none of these give an advantage within the game.
Card packs are available for cash but are simply a way to obtain cards slightly faster than through normal gameplay (and they're priced a little outside of the range of people with a "I'll just buy 1000 packs to get every card" mentallity), how quickly you can earn card packs through gameplay is dependant on how well you play, whether or not you decide to clear the single-player "puzzle" challenges, etc. Though you should be able to earn 2-4 packs per day if you play for 1-2 hours.
after 2 hours of play I had enough "spare" cards to sell and buy any common or semi-common card I wanted.

The game has a focus on player-vs-player matches as opposed to single player vs the AI (though this IS still an option), The matches are very strategic, though the escalating stats of higher-cost cards makes lower-cost cards near-useless after just a few turns, which makes matches more and more luck-based the longer they play out.
Cards are split into 3 types: essentially these traditional TCG cards: units, equipment and spells.

Matches take place on a grid, players summon units onto spaces within range of their hero or other units, each turn each unti may move up to 2 spaces and then attack an adjacent enemy.
Equipment cards boost your hero in various ways, but have durabillity which is lost when your hero takes damage.
Spell cards have various effects which directly affect the match, units, equipment, etc.

Good bits:
  • An retro graphical style with good animations and varied card designs.
  • Not pay-to-win.
  • Balanced starter decks and factions with unique strategies that give advantages to people that can plan and strategise as opposed to people with "better" cards.
Bad bits:
  • High-cost cards tend to be exponentially stronger than low-cost ones, making long matches lean in favor of whoever gets luckiest in drawing their highest cost cards.
  • The cosmetic items in the cash shop are absurdly expensive for what they are.
  • No "story" mode currently (the cards are filled with lore which seems wasted without a storyline to go with it)

Overall 7/10 in its current state. Worth trying but many people will be put off by the lack of true single-player experience.

Personally I overlooked this game at first thinking it was "just another trashy cash-shop-heavy free-to-play", This is the first time I've been proven wrong on this point. While the game DOES seem very cash-shop-heavy at first (especially to new players) all of the "best" equipment cannot be bought with cash and require a LOT of work to earn through gameplay. In addition ANY cash item can be earned through gameplay though many of them require the player to have access to several late-game missions.
The game is very team-based with most missions almost REQUIRING a team to complete.
Your warframe (character/class), weapons and sentinel (pet) each lvl up individually, higher lvls mean both higher stats and more upgrade points, which allow you to customise your stuff with various abilities/passive bonuses/etc. such as fire/ice/lightning damage on weapons, larger clips, longer blades, more hp, better shields, etc.
There's literally 100s of possible upgrades and you can switch/swap them as many times as you want.
The only thing I dislike about the game is the lack of variety in missions, there's a limited (small) number of maps which, though large and randomly setup have a lot of repeated rooms/corridors/visual styles, the enemy AI can surprise you sometimes but generally becomes very predictable in any given room/situation.
The warframes available at the start are relatively basic and it can take excessive amounts of time to reach bosses that drop the blueprints for ones you want, though the "best" warframe blueprints are still only available from end-game missions the availability of any other warframes in the cash shop makes you wonder if it's worth spending so much time trying to earn one of the more basic ones.

Overall the game is good, a little repetitive and...while cash-based cash is NOT a requirement. 7/10.

Sanctum 2 is an unusual tower defence game, where the player will usually do as much or more killing than their towers do.
The gameplay involves the player building a maze of walls within certain confines set by the current map, these walls then have towers built onto them which (mostly) attack enemies that get within range, other types of towers provide other small bonuses.
during each wave the player then needs to attack the enemies themselves, using various guns available to them.
The game requires a unique strategy which takes some getting used to, some of the maps have a considerably high difficulty the first few times you play them.
The storyline is a decent length, with additional challenges, steam achievements etc. along with the infinite "survival" mode which is available on any map making up most of the end-game content.
Overall the game is good, best played with friends though expect many arguments unless you're all pros at the game before you team up. 8/10.

If you're into TCGs (trading card games) or just into strategy games then you HAVE to try this game at least once.
The gameplay is unique, the cash-shop gives you a SMALL advantage if you buy stuff early on, otherwise it's fairly easy to earn any card/deck/pack through normal gameplay (you can earn both "gold" and "credits" by playing).
To re-iterate that, within 30 hours of playing I had many of the rarest cards from the first few card sets including every card I specifically wanted for my own deck, I have paid cash since then.
The gameplay is highly strategic, almost every card has specific effects that can swing matches one way or the other. The storyline is short and could be considered to be a series of practice matches rather than an actual campaign, though the rewards are extremely high, including lots of credits (cash currency) and gold, both of which can be used to buy cards/decks.
Overall the game is great in short bursts (1-2 hours usually), 8/10.

Although it's still early to really say much about the content/balance of the game, it has a huge amount of potential, the developers are updating/rebalancing often and actually listen to player feedback.
The gameplay itself IS simmilar to other 2D sandbox games though has some unique differences, loot plays a major part in your character's strength, you can explore multiple worlds easily, with each world having it's own difficulty as well as biomes and visual style. Dungeons and/or towns are often found on worlds, forcing you to explore many planets to find specific towns/dungeons.
There's a HUGE amount of content, including items, crafting recipes, dungeons, various biomes, etc.
overall a great game atm, has lots of additional potential too. 9/10.

A great game for both FPS and RPG fans alike, loot-centric gameplay (think FPS diablo) with a huge amount of content over 3 main difficulty levels as well as further end-game content.
great multiplayer with if playing with friends and a half-decent matchmaking system for if you don't know anyone else that plays it.
lots of side-quests and achievements to aim for. Good storyline.
Overall it's a great game. 9/10.
