If you're a fan of the original games and have a reasonably powerful PC it's a no brainer. The worst thing about the game so far is A Life being busted or mostly disabled. However if you're ok with putting some files into a mod folder you can get it working again. In fact there is already mods to fix/tweak most major things. But that's not to say the devs aren't fixing things themselves too. It had a day one patch with thousands of fixes and just a week after launch they pushed another large update with 600+ fixes. Slava Ukraini folks!

Get in the van, Shinji.

This game was a relaxing exploration puzzle experience that you can finish in one day if you start early enough.
It respects your time and has solid enough characters and story, albeit the story ends pretty abruptly without much explanation of the aftermath of things that happen at the end. That's about the only serious issue I have with it.

One of the best RPG's of our time, and the loving continuation of Original Sin 1. One of the few games that gives you the creative freedom to handle tasks like it's a Tabletop RPG like Dungeons and Dragons

No Man's Sky is an incredibly ambitious concept done by a small 15 manned studio, who have also done games such as Joe Danger in the past. Hello Game's took a big leap going from something like Joe Danger to a project as large as No Man's Sky. The game in a nutshell is a procedurally generated universe that creates itself as you fly around. Planets are relatively varied although certain planet types are more rare than others. Plants and wild animals are generated from a large set of random pieces, the atmosphere is both gorgeous and eerie at the same time, and chances are the place you're walking around on you are the first person to be there.

There is crafting, gathering, and combat both on the surface of planets and in space. The game also puts forth a TON of lore on the intelligent species in the game that you must uncover and translate through finding words and lore locations. However the saying "As wide as an ocean, as deep as a puddle" is fairly accurate for this title. Your first few planets, especially if one is lush and filled with animals, is honestly one of the most magical moments in gaming I've had in a long time. That magic will start to fade as you start to see reoccurring themes in the game, a downside to creating procedural content. You can have all the quintillions of planets you want but if you end up doing the same thing on each of them, the experience is still a static one. The game is also riddled with obscure bugs and performance issues for many people.

The real problem however is this ambitious indie game being priced at a full $60 like it is a AAA title by a big studio. I think many individuals could overlook many of the issues if the title had been priced in the $20-$30 bracket. If you're someone who is BIG on procedural survival games, you may not mind spending $60 for this title, and may find continuous joy out of it even after you explore your 600th, but unfortunately most individuals would not be willing to pony up that sum of cash as they would not get that type of experience. That is why I simply cannot recommend this game unless, as stated you are a huge procedural survival fan.

This game, at its core mechanics and feel is a blend of Counter Strike game-modes and Red Orchestra gun play. It's run on the Source Engine and is spiritual successor to an old mod (which at the time had a huge playerbase). If you're looking for a new tactical shooter thats on a smaller scale than ARMA and has more arcade shooting mechanics than this is the game for you. That being said the pace of the game is about what a match of Red Orchestra would be like, you want to get to the objectives as quick as possible but as cautiously as possible. If you don't plan on communicating with your team or at the very least following orders from a squad leader and supporting your squad then this probably isnt your style of game. The game shines when teams use communication and performs like a well oiled machine.

Where to begin. Ask yourself some questions, do you like minecraft? Do you like zombie survival? If you answered yes to both of those chances are you probably will like this game. That being said the game is still in early development, and to play it you need to drop $35. Ask yourself is it worth the $35? I can tell you the game, despite being in early development, is way more polished than ALOT of other early access games I've played and the only thing really missing from it are the features they promised and a little optimization, other then that the game has never crashed for me and I rarely get framerate troubles on a gtx 660 with an i5 processor. I bought this with a friend months ago and have gotten well past $35 worth of fun out of it, and thats just my opinion. However I got my fun mostly because I was playing it with a friend, otherwise I would've been bored of this game playing solo. That being said if you don't have friends to play with or who wont play these genre of games then their are plenty of multiplayer servers that players play on. In fact every game you play can be made open to the public and will be on the server list. If you're looking for a new zombie survival game with crafting and building then this just might be the game for you, but with any early access the game, do your research, watch gameplay, read reviews, ask people on steam or the 7 Days to Die forums and then make a decision.
