Characters are actually very enjoyable, as is the story. My favorite is Kayoko.

This game is my first title from FromSoft that I properly played through to the end. It was a very enjoyable experience, and the core gameplay loop of breaking the enemies' posture was unique and engaging. Some enemies gave me a lot of struggle at first, such as the Guardian Ape due to not really being able to break their posture as easily, and mostly just whittling down their health, but overall I think I got through the game without too much difficulty. Was a very fun experience, and I enjoyed it much more than what I've experienced so far when playing Elden Ring.

Game runs fine enough, but my computer is quite strong so I'm not the best person to ask about that. Servers are a bit iffy and some multiplayer stuff is a bit jank at the moment, but I'm loving the experience so far. It was well worth the wait.

Edit: At HR 64, after 31.7 hours, I've essentially "completed" the game, and done all side/optional quests. My opinion still has not changed, and the story was quite enjoyable, although nothing to go crazy over. I wish there were more starting monsters, but as they say, "it is what it is". Planning to keep going, will grind out some (maybe all) armor sets, and maybe even go for HR 999/100% Achievements if I feel like it.

Second Edit: I did 100% the game, but I've stopped playing the game for a while now. I did reach HR 211 though. I'm a bit miffed about the Hunting Horn changes which, while good, still change the core fundamentals of the weapon too much, akin to Wilds. I wouldn't mind it to have it as a choice, but having it replace the weapon I love, just like with Rise, unfortunately leaves me feeling jaded about the experience as a whole.
Perhaps I should say, "if I had a nickel for every time that a Japanese company made changes to a musical party buffing based playstyle in a multiplayer game franchise I poured over 1000 hours in, I'd have 10 cents, which isn't a lot, but it's odd that it happened twice." If it's not apparent, I am talking about Bard in FFXIV, though I've long since stopped playing that game due to its current direction, but I digress. If you can look past the performance issues of Wilds, I do still think the game is worth the price, though I do still wish the game could've been left in the oven a bit longer, and perhaps had some more content worked on before launch to have post-launch content feel less sparse.

Unlike how I usually would, I'm reviewing this game before finishing it. To start off, I'd like to say that you'd probably want to play Infinite Wealth before playing this one, but also you'd probably want to play 0-6, Yakuza: LAD, and Man Who Erased His Name before playing Infinite Wealth (preferably in that order), so it's a bit of a time sink. If you aren't willing to go through that, then that's fine, and I'm sure you'd still find plenty of enjoyment from this title.

But, uh... I really don't have all too much to say. RGG really knocked it out of the park-- the combat feels phenomenal, and I love the customization aspect making a return from Man Who Erased His Name. I hope it becomes a mainstay even in the mainline titles. I haven't had much time to dig my teeth into ship combat though, as I've been taking it slow so far, but I've been loving every bit of it. Another amazing title, but I'll be sad having to wait for what's next. At the very least, I still need to play Ishin, and Monster Hunter Wilds is just around the corner, so I don't suppose I'll be hard pressed for things to do until then.

Dead Souls remake, please?

Once again, Ichiban shows himself as being a worthy successor to Kiryu. He's just such a loveable goofball protagonist, a beacon of happiness and hope, it's damn near impossible to hate him.

Anyway, I stayed up until 7 am during an 11 hour gaming session to finish this game. It was worth it.

Despite the criticisms I've seen of this game online, I found the story to be very engaging throughout, keeping me wanting to see what's next, and as always, RGG knocked the character writing out of the park. Gameplay is without any doubt an improvement over Yakuza: Like a Dragon, though I wish Dondoko Island was able to engage me more than it did-- I found myself leaving it after messing around in it for a few hours. There is one thing though-- there's a line of substories that has a running gag where Ichiban seems to be assaulted in a specific manner, and in all honesty, these didn't sit very well with me... I know it's happened in previous titles as well, but just the sheer amount in this one was a bit much, and I wish they just hadn't done it. All the other substories were fine, however.

I did all of the substories, memoirs/memories, drink links and such, ending the game at roughly level 50, averaged across everyone. I found the Japan team to be leveled more/stronger than the Hawaii team. I went out of my way to get everyone's 7 (?) star weapons as well, which made most of the story content a breeze. Seeing the interactions between the party members even in the walk and talks and meal talks was really fun, and genuinely got a laugh out of me at times, they're worth checking out if you happen to come across them.

Overall, another very strong entry in this franchise, although I wish I could say you'd enjoy it as much as I did if you haven't played 0-6 (and I suppose Man Who Erased His Name as well). I'm sure most people coming from only Yakuza: Like a Dragon will still find this game to be very enjoyable regardless.

This game is... ridiculous. Slight bit of tank controls, feels a bit clunky here and there, but I very quickly became accustomed to it. Co-op shooters are always a blast, and this one is no different. I just used the starting pistol and the Dragonuv for my playthrough with a friend. It was honestly hilarious, just from the stuff that happens in the story/gameplay, and the constant spamming voice lines somehow didn't get old. My biggest gripe in all honesty though, is the QTEs. I know you can rebind them, but it's just so... odd. I basically just spammed A+D+F+V non-stop during every cutscene. I have no gripe with QTEs myself though if they're done well/in a fun way (ie: Yakuza), and not like the end of Dying Light. RE4 mostly avoids that.

My friend and I also played through the 2 other side content thingies, and the one where it ends on the rooftop was really difficult, took us like an hour of non-stop trying because we'd always die last second. Overall, really fun game, worth playing if you have a second person you can bring through with you. It has some weak points, but it doesn't detract much from the overall experience.

This game feels like an absolute power trip, despite the constant dying. It's fun, satisfying, and extremely engaging, with great visuals and music. The only real gripe I have, which isn't much of a gripe, is the fact that the DLC hasn't had much news, and it's been a long long time since its announcement. It's almost comparable to Silksong... stay strong, everyone.

Really enjoyable game, ran well, looked amazing (especially with HDR). I ended up mainly just using the starting pistol from start to finish because I love crit upgrades, but it served me well. Had a backup Riot Gun, and an SR M1903 as well. I never played the original RE4, but I've seen clips, and it seems like the remake headed in a more serious direction, which makes me a bit sad. That isn't to say that this game isn't still absolutely ridiculous and at times stupid (in a good way), though. Don't think I'll do multiple playthroughs, but this game was really good, and I'd recommend it.
