Stupid and fun, well worth the money if you've got a few friends willing to grab it and play with you. There's an actual story, too - if you care to search for the cassettes that tell it.

Rough around the edges, but the potential is definitely there for refinement into a fun game.

First and foremost: It's definitely worth the ten dollar investment in a purely risk-reward view of enjoyment it currently provides versus the cost, and what it may well blossom into.

That out of the way, you'll definitely get the most mileage out of it if you have a group of friends you play games with regularly and everyone gets onboard to buy a copy, but the public multiplayer works just fine and I haven't had any issues in my (somewhat limited) playing as of this posting.

Somehow, Funcom managed to shock me in actually putting their namesake in a game. It's genuinely fun - especially with friends - and it's undeniably Dune. It's pretty, it runs fairly well, and in my 24 hours of playtime as of writing this, I've had a grand total of ONE (1) crash. One!

I've seen complaints about rampant crashing, about poor performance, and while I built my PC in '21, it runs juuuust fine and I genuinely do not encounter many issues. Ultimately, I was on the fence about purchasing the game, but a friend pushed me over the edge and I got it, and I'm glad I did. If you're a Dune fan, you're probably gonna love this. If you're a survival-type game enjoyer, you'll probably enjoy this. I haven't hit the end-game content yet, but I'm comfortably mid-game and this gets a shining endorsement from me. The gameplay loop so far is decent, the mechanics feel intuitive, the story is neat. It's really just... an enjoyable game.

Kudos, Funcom. You managed to beat my (albeit low) expectations of what I assumed would be a Conan ripoff with nothing special, new, or interesting.

In short: if you like Star Wars, it's -alright-, but certainly not groundbreaking or anything particularly amazing.

In more words:
The price is higher than I'd like, and for anyone that's simply not a big Star Wars fan, I don't think you'll get much mileage out of it, but if you enjoy half-decent story and Star Wars, you may come out of it with enjoyment. In my time playing it, I haven't hit any real gameplay issues or bugs yet, though I may be an outlier in this regard.

Unreal. Forcing account linkage is wild. The reasoning given is a flat out lie - this does not increase 'safety' of players. A shame that Managed Democracy goes out like this.

Edit: Let this record stand as a monument against Sony's corporate greed, so that none forget what they tried to do on this date. Game's fun tho.
