I recommend this game for its mechanics, and gameplay. In terms of controlling cheaters, it is complete garbage.

Here's the long back story.

I was using an application called Cheat Engine, to change attributes of my online character. Things like health and bullets per shot. Every time I made a change, it was done in a session with friends, and I never used it to spawn in money, or change my level.

I got banned for 10 days, learned my lesson, and removed Cheat Engine from my PC entirely. Was banned again for a month after just 2 days back. Same thing after the month ban, this time permanent. All the while I was in contact with Rockstar, trying to figure all of this out, and got no response after sending in 8 different requests.

GTA public sessions are still plagued with people who are messing with you, killing you, they are often invincible, and they never seem to get caught. All I was trying to do was have some fun with some friends.

Rockstar's automated banning system needs a lot of work to say the least. My account "...has been flagged for repeated violations related to modding and/or manipulation of protected game data and code in GTA Online."

I was also told there is no chance of appeal, after finally getting a response.



TL;DR: Got banned for cheating, changed my ways. Got a perm ban anyway.
