First of all, I need to stress that I have a deep water phobia. I am terrified by the deep waters and the creatures that lurk in them. Second, I rarely write reviews, need to get into the habbit of doing so and even though I still am quite lazy I cannot just sit and leave Subnautica without one.

This game was a very good example of a developer pouring his/her/its heart and soul into the creation. Not only this game is as beautiful as it gets but gives you a rollercoaster of emotions during your playtime. At first terrifying and hostile sea turned into a friendly and comfortable home with a bit of time to the point where I was hesitant to end the game. Not many developers can do this.

I have to admit that I somehow managed to go into this game after the launch without spoiling anything. I was playing completely blind. 42 hours later I finished the game for the first time and I have to admit that this was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had with a survival games for the last years on straight!

Here is a small sum up:
WARNING, THIS MAY INCLUDE SOME SPOILERS

Pros:

>Graphics wise, the game looks beautiful;
>Story is quite interesting;
>Building mechanics are great;
>The biomes are diverse;
>For the price the developers are basically gifting you the game;
>Easy to pick up;
>The game isn't too grindy;
>It's just awesome ok?

Cons:

>A bit unoptimised. Couldn't help FPS drops here and there but it is fixable;
>Please fix hitboxes! It's unbelievable how many times I died when scanning bigger enemies just because hitboxes think that the monsters can hit 10 meters away from the animation;
>Fish AI is quite stupid to be honest but fun playing with it nevertheless;
>Would've been awesome if a player could influence some of the events ingame like Sunbeam quest or Fixing Aurora before it blows up;
>Aurora could've been a bit better made, it's a huge ship yet we never get to explore most of it;
>On land even breathing feels quite clunky;
>Crater Edge, while terrifying at first, turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Moreso when 3 "guards" that are appointed there (trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible here) are as easy to dodge as possible and once you get used to seeing their faces it goes nowhere. It's nor scary nor anything. When this comes from a guy with deep water phobia I think there has to be something wrong there.

Now it may seem like I am overcriticising the game but bear with me. I just went into more detail with cons. That's just how I show my love towards this game. Would love to replay it in a couple of months see how the progress will go. Buy the game and enjoy it. That's all I can say.

TL;DR

I loved the game and would recommend it to anyone interested in a very well made survival game. It's been a while since we've had something good about oceans.

10/10 would absolutely recommend to anyone.
