It's not blowing my socks off, but it's everything it needed to be.

I've played every game in the series (Including Galaxy which never had a western release due to lawsuits), and this game hit the nostalgia perfectly. The sound design is faithful, the characters are faithful, but it's far from a perfect game.

The gameplay is fancy Fifa, (having never played Fifa) where there's no more touchscreen style controls, it's based around action events (which aren't amazing online) and passing. They turned Miximax, Keshin (fighting spirits) and armourfy all into the same thing, which sucks, but it makes sense for balance and translating it to this game style. There's no more FP and TP, it's Tension, Bond Meter etc. It's different, worse imo, but not horrendous. It doesn't feel great to play competitve though, tbh.

The story mode is fine. It's a slog at the start with an unnecessary amount of a rock paper scissors minigame that nobody asked for, nor enjoys, but they pick up the pace towards the end. It's a pretty touching story about disability, even if the main character is quite dislikable imo, and (like the entire series) the dubbing is pretty bad, but at least it's on brand.

Chronical mode WAS a slog, I finished it before they patched it to make it reasonable. It's cool if you only know little bits of the franchise, or know the entire thing and enjoy the nostalgia like I did. It's gonna be a pain to 100%, because the entire thing is just tedium, it's not difficult. It's also not finished yet, 3 more routes to come out and you don't see the ending yet.

Pvp kinda sucks, some of the abilities don't seem to be implemented properly (rough play) and there is a clear meta of Justice builds, which kinda sucks, but I think it's pretty intuit to how they're all designed, idk how you balance fix your way out of this one.

The other modes are eh, not a whole lot to them tbh, its fanservicey, and I enjoy that, but it's not much.

It's like an 8/10 for me and my nostalgia, probably realistically like a 6/10. I love it, but if you don't love the series it'll probably just be alright.

The game is solidly FINE. Like, it's got a lot of great ideas, it's beautiful, but a lot of core gameplay elements I can't say I'm a fan of, as someone who loves Mario Party (lets call a spade a spade), studies it extensively and games similar to it. I hope developer find the feedback insightful!

I think we all know this is a "Mario Party-like", just like Pummel party, so when I bring it up, it's to compare it as the base concept for this style. If you're looking for something much more strictly like Mario Party, then you're maybe looking more at Pummel party, this deviates a lot more from it, in some good ways and some not so good ways too.

I will reiterate, the game is GORGEOUS. There's a couple fps drops when building sections of the map (could be a hardware, probably is), but this has such a strong style and aesthetic (obviously lended by it's IP), but the lighting and actual quality is amazing. Big props to the team for it. The whole game show setup is unfortunate (given Jamboree just beat them to it), and tbh you could've been more adventurous, but there's real effort put in to pull it off and it's not too invasive, I still like it, they really commit to it.

The Minigames are all pretty great, they are definitely grouped in certain mechanics, there's multiple grapple hook minigames, spaceships, cars etc. but to their credit, they're all fun. I think some games that do 3 rounds could do with being shortened but that's about it. Nothing to complain about, far more consistent minigame pool than any Mario Party or Mario Party-like. The 2v2 space is a tad bs, giving 2 free bricks feels a bit much but they're rare spaces to their credit.

The cutscenes could really do with a skip button. They're beautiful, don't get me wrong, but after a while I wanna get to the point, and the game length is what limits how many turns I'm playing, and the number of turns helps to balance out the luck factor, and if I wanted pure luck I'd go shoot dice. Giving options to help speed the game along after you've seen it all would be nice, because 8 turns isn't a lot of game and I wanna really get into it.

The boards are a tad iffy.
The Pirate board is fine, it works as a standard basic board (8-12 turns is not a lot though, there's no harm in giving people free reign to make the game as long as they want).
Ninjago feels too heavily weighted around the basically free "boss fights", again aesthetically great, but the lack of choices and agency on the pathing, with the number of free bricks feels like you don't have much control.
Space felt too heavy on it's alien boss fight gimmick. It was an okay board (even if the thief needs to be harder to access and loop), but 4 free and easily accessible bricks at the end of the game just felt like nothing matters.
The Theme Park map was actually amazing though, perfect execution of its concept, even if it's very weighted to whoever gets movement items and the thief at the end of the game kinda kills anything interesting happening in those last turns.
The boards aren't the end of the world, but board play is my main personal focus of Mario Party-likes.

I feel the "dice" system is some missed potential, you could really have an interesting concept with getting to craft your own board over the course of a game, or more items to change your board and how it rolls, think something kinda Balatro-esque. Very interesting idea there, might steal that lmao.

For £30, I could never convince my friends who don't adore Mario Party as much as me to buy it, and tbh even I think it's maybe not a £30 game right now, we'll have to see what expansions add. But it's solidly okay. It's better than Mario Party 1, 9 and 10 to say the very least. Need some more playtime to see how good I think it really is. Much <3 to the devs, they seem to be really passionate and I've got a lot of love for anyone else trying to make Mario-Party-like games too.

Movement is pointless and you can't use it to interact with other players, you only move in your own home or if you're dead.
It's glorified dlc imo. some renamed roles, a few new ones and some new customisation.
Tl;Dr, not worth money, it's TOS but again and somehow more bloated.

Ranked games take a little long, some characters could potentially do with a rebalance and the UI isn't quite as intuitive as it could be but the game is amazing past that

Incredibly lazy and underpowered designs in the first wave, have lost any hype for the future ones and how much they'll butcher them

This will very quickly get called Top Down Terraria, for good reason too but that isn't to take away from it.

The game has a infinite (if not then it is near to it) world composed of Islands with randomly generated Caves below ground and dungeons/villages/etc. overground. There are numerous Bosses to be fought through the different biomes of islands or dungeons leading to a good progression of weapons and equipment giving that Terraria RPG feeling, just lacking the same content, which is fair given the early access.

The settlment building aspect is definitely its unique point in this genre though. Its got the same energy as "The Survivalists" (The Sequel to The Escapists 2 that nobody played) but the actual house building is very enjoyable, it doesn't feel too difficult to make good looking houses and is genuinely fun.

Only issues:
-Lacking content for the moment (but I'm sure that will change with time)
-No direct end goal
-Tutorial could be more direct
-More varied underground loot
-Can feel rather clunky to control but gets better when you get used to it

Solid Game, will be playing more!

My favourite game of all time!

You may notice I only have 40 hours thus far but I wanted to switch to Steam from Epic Games so it's realistically about 200 hours. I've played this game alone and with friends and honestly the game is incredible.

I came into the game with no civ experience and with some help from friends I really got into it and play this game every day. I now intend to try an get all 307 achievements.

BE WARNED, THIS GAME IS NOT BALANCED AT ALL! Don't expect a game where all civilisations are equal because they are not! If you want the best civs, buy the expansions. Base Game Civ 6 is still great, but with expansions the game is much more fun but much less balanced.

Top game for me :)
