Incredible game, easy to learn but hard to master. Couldn't recommend enough

Great little game, very casual with just enough strategic control and depth to feel rewarding when you win. There is also a skill cap and over time your increased understanding can be used to win fairly consistently. Luck plays a part but I've only felt unlucky in a small number of games and I wouldn't say it was too devastating to my chances of winning.

Update: Game has progressed alot with massive additions to both gameplay and content, highly recommended!

As a fan of sunless sea it pains me to say this game doesn't live up to its predecessor, for starters there is an SJW slant on the world that could upset some people. The legacy system has changed significantly and for the worst in my opinion, I didn't feel like I gained much from completing the life goals that were very important in the first, I felt like I made no progress for much of my time playing.

The most glaring error in my opinion has to be the game pace, some journeys you undertake will take for instance 10 minutes, you follow a quest chain that wants you to change map and you could be into the region of 20 minutes. This was a problem with sunless sea but the big difference here is you cannot upgrade your speed. This was also mitigated in the first by map size and here the increase in map size which would usually be a positive is actually a negative.

EDIT: Seeing as some people believe I should have given a positive review because of play time let me expand on my review to properly clarify another issue. This game puts an emphasis on story, this story is apparently yours but it doesn't feel like it, I felt more akin to a spectator to the story element rather than a participant. There aren't consequences such as death for story elements even though there are horrors at every port, I walk amongst poisonous fungus that killed everyone aboard the ship, I tell the devil I made a deal with to get off my boat without payment when they come to collect, I get lost in the woods without food and lose my mind. Snippets of what was happening and the consequence of each trivial, the only time I died was fighting ships.

This game can be good but for the vast majority of people this is one to avoid.

So many complaints from people that don't understand a genre that's been around since before the digital age, I'm a long time Magic the Gathering player and have a collection of physical cards that cost me hundreds. At the moment the game is lacking in few areas such as being able to chat with your opponent but that is planned so it's not a big deal for now.

The biggest complaint I've seen is people being dissapointed in not receiving free cards for progression but they fail to realize that would devalue the cards bought by players, this is a Trading Card Game where your collection holds value unlike the majority of other online card games. This system is better for many reasons but the main would be people can resell their collection when they tire of the game and recoup the majority of money they spent which many people also fail to realise. I can sell the cards I got from my ten free packs and make a profit because I got lucky with afew cards.

Its a game that most wouldn't think they'd like but it has such charm that it draws you in and provides a great relaxing experience. Would recommend.
