Shooting mechanics felt a little unpolished, but they work. Story is cool if you are into computers and technology. The best way I can describe this is like Fallout but more linear. The game frequently asks you if you are ready to leave an area for good. Once you click yes on one of these, you will no longer be able to go back to that place to do side quests or pickup items
I get the sense you are supposed to pick a lethal vs. non-lethal approach to combat where non-lethal is supposed to be the “good” option, but certain things about the stealth system made me pick lethal just to avoid the quirks. For instance, there is a dart gun that knocks people out a few seconds after being shot. The problem is you do not have a target reticle with the dart gun when using the cover system (unlike all the other guns that kill people). This makes the gun hard to aim and I have alerted the guards by shooting next to them. The alternative is trying to slowly inch my way out of cover without being spotted to try and hit my shot. Non-lethal weapons and ammo are also hard to find. I at one point wanted to try using the non-lethal approach and I was unable to find a stun gun or dart gun or the ammo for a long stretch of time. If you want to try the non-lethal route, go full send from the start and don’t look back (something I did not do).
For these reasons, I think it is better just to shoot everyone dead. Also, guards do not respawn, so if you clear out an area, don’t even worry about cameras or lasers, no one will respond to the alarm.
7/10 I hope the sequel is better
