To call the AI "AI" would be to give it too much credit - it is pre-determined and scripted. Frontier bragged about getting real driver radio voice lines, a superfluous feature that nobody asked for, and still botched it, you'll hear every line a driver has in two races, and some of them are just incorrect. Development time was spent on this instead of the simulation, which was instead made up at the last minute under the guise of potentially being able to fool the gullible for half a season.
