I'll be transparent and just start this off with that I'm writing this review to get the badge for the steam awards, but oh boy, where do I even begin with this review.

I'll start off with that I genuinely think that to find story and world building at this level is so incredibly rare to find in a lot of titles that are released now days. This sparked the "controversy" that a lot of gaming industries literally went on media and said that games like this are and should remain an exception and an outlier, rather than the quality and effort put into this game be the norm.

So to say that the story and gameplay are excellent is an understatement. That being said, if you do not enjoy DnD (or the generic fantasy setting that DnD entails) or you dislike turnbased combat or roleplaying, then I would guess that this game is not for you. It's not gonna replace CoD for FPS, LoL for MOBA, or HS for TCG, but what it aims to do for turn based tactical RPG it does great. It's not too often I turn to a game to get fully invested in it's lore and characters without then finding out that content is timegated and I have to reach level 60 or reach Adventure Rank 40 until I can continue the story, but Baldur's gate doesn't do that. It doesn't force you to do that one annoying mini game or collect 6 bear asses to then let you continue the story, it goes: "Here's the world, and here's your character you spent WAAAAAAY too long on making overly horny or like a short stack emo dwarf that looks like he listens to MCR in his spare time. Enjoy the world as you see fit."

Now I know how review go and there can't ONLY be good, and there isn't. Every game has it's flaws and I'm not ashamed to talk about this game's. First of all while the world is BEAUTIFUL, that comes with a downside that the graphics can be a bit taxing. Even with the lower settings it can be a bit much to run it on older and not as strong PC specs, so just be aware of what you can and can't run. At the same time with beautiful graphics sometimes comes the very weird and sometimes downright annoying visual glitches. I was playing with my friends in a 4 stack and one of my friends wanted to knock out Astarion and take his clothes so that he could wear them in the playthrough, but as soon as he took them on the shirt shined brighter than a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ supernova. Weirdest part about that glitch was that it only happened outside so we assumed it must have been something to do with the lighting. Another "problem" with the game is how if you're a 4 stack of friends that you can't progress the NPC story quests since they need to be in your party for you to get the story. So while it might be tempting to get a group of friends and play this game, you do get limited to how many NPCs get to come with you.

With that being said the mod support for this game is outstanding and I honestly have to say that this has to be one of the top 3 games I've played this year, with Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Octopath Traveler being tied for best top 3. It's very rarely I look up the best builds in order for me to get to the sex scenes as fast as I can. Outstanding character design and amazing personalities sprinkled throughout make for an amazing game.

TL;DR
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brilliant game with few flaws (nothing that I'm guessing mods can't fix) if you're into DnD or turned based tactical combat games. 10/10

Is the game good? Sure, but I honestly can not recommend in good faith a mediocre game with bad business practices and lies from the developer. This game was originally 5 USD for chapter 1 on the basis that chapter 2 and onward would be 5 USD each, which I as well as most of the community would have been alright with. But as time went on and Poppy's playtime chapter 2 got released, not only did they go back on their word and made chapter 2 cost 10 USD rather than 5 USD, but they also made the first chapter free with no compensation or discount on chapter 2. So I must sadly say do not buy chapter 2, and if you plan on playing it, either wait until chapter 2 is perhaps made free like chapter 1 or just avoid this game all around and support a better game.

Was pretty ait. But lets be real everyone is doing this for the Steam badge.

I'm mainly writing this review for a steam summer games event reward, but none the less I would say that this is probably one of the better steam H-games out there. It's easy to play, might be confusing at first, but choosing who's on your team for the best combos is fun. The characters are nice and enjoyable to get to know, and the story isn't just ♥♥♥♥ them silly .
9/10 only problem is if you're gonna 100% it. Then it's a big grind.

This game baffles me at every turn. I takes that MOBA feel and makes it feel good, if you die due to being out of place or a well timed spell you know it was your bad placement and not due to them being fed in the first 30 min like league. It's very satisfying learning from your mistakes and getting good at the game. Now that it's free I recommend everyone to at the very least try it.

It's such a great game in both challange and has an amazing story with so much to do after you beat the game.

Buy it. You won't regret it.
