I've progressed enough to 100% the game, including achievos, and have the mines running so fast and producing so much that my framerate's tanked to the single digits and trying to mine normally freezes the game. GGs

If you're hoping for a social experience similar to what you'd get in TF2 normally, this ain't it. Same classes (besides the Civilian), same vomit-inducing hit detection, fewer servers doing things that aren't just killing eachother to play an objective. No cosmetics, none of the non-stock weapons you might be used to, no taunts besides stock. You'll both look and feel like a bot whilst playing this.

Elsewise, if you're into the niche bit of gameplay this does offer up (I'm pretty much just here for the 4 teams tbh), then sure. Recommended. It's free, and the devs don't owe it to any of us to spruce the game up to be something that suits everyone. That's fine, and it should be fine with those that didn't take to the experience.

Friend of mine that makes her own models between Unity, UE and other engines was banned for using a simple FOV mod that she needed because the game's built-in FOV wasn't quite doing it for her setup. Don't really care what the stance is on the part of the devs; a simple quality-of-life mod isn't worth banning someone over, especially when they were ponying up for the subscription and actually providing content for the game.

As the game is now, you'll likely end up in some random public world, awkwardly eavesdropping on conversations that don't involve you and looking at avatars you'd probably rather not be looking at. If you're hoping it'll be an experience like what you might see from creators like Lolathon, I can't honestly say any of that's possible anymore. It was apparently too difficult to develop a competent trust system and let players police things through their own experiences, so now you're not able to do as much, and you certainly can't fill in the gaps in functionality that the developers are leaving behind.

SEGA doing what they do best; making horrible decisions with one of their best IPs.

It's a FREE game, so it's hard not to recommend it, but I'll temper the thumbs up; there are daily limits on what you can accomplish in terms of earning cosmetics—said cosmetics have fairly limited customization (can't recolor the Traveler outfit from Journey as an example), bugs and outages have been common in my experience and, as a lot of people have pointed out, events and limited-time things, as well as just the daily limits themselves, make this a FOMO-heavy game. That you and another player have to deliberately touch candles just so you can see eachother properly has been weird to me from the start, and it's even worse when you consider a lot of what you do in this game is so you can look cool for both friends and strangers.

At the end of it all, I found it to have no real endgame besides grinding day-to-day, hoping that the stuff I ACTUALLY want to earn or do will be added at some point. Right now, the devs just seem locked in on getting money from players, and I've seen the 'they've got bills to pay' gambit nonstop towards any form of criticism related to how heavily the game's microtransactions prey on the player's dislike of having to spread out what they can earn over weeks to months. That might work to rationalize their motives, but it's not great for the end user.

All that aside, the game's beautiful and the soundtrack is fantastic. It'll make you feel things, and those magical feelings are why people love games like Sky and Journey. It's not wrong to wanna throw money at a game like this; just make sure you aren't doing so to your own detriment, and that you're prepared to lose everything you have in the game if they close the servers one day and can't work the game into a more standalone state. Savor your first playthrough of Sky just as you would with Journey.

The game is great, provided you're running with people who actually know how to play. Mileage varies heavily with the matchmaking; sometimes you'll get a crew of people that'll have the objectives done in minutes, and sometimes you'll end up with clueless noobs who, I'd swear, are entirely oblivious to all external stimuli- and all of that's AFTER you've waited for matchmaking to actually do its job, which it'll neglect to do for minutes on end until, at some point, it'll randomly put you into groups almost as soon as you hit quick play.

Get some friends on here and you're in for a good session.

This here's a neat lil vidyer. Still in Early Access, so I imagine there's more on the way; I'll only tentatively say there's currently not a whole lot to do ingame just yet. Workshop being added would do a ton to fix that, though- there's a lot of custom maps from Mirror's Edge and Parkour Fortress I'd love to see done on here, if not just some additional maps in general.

Neat lil game, not too complex. I can see some people are expecting automation of some kind, but I don't think that's really the point. Produce everything in surplus and keep all the extra stock in chests, and you usually won't need to retrace your steps in terms of crafting.

30GB game bloated up to 140GB; crashes, stuttering and general lag after recent updates; the new content not being worth any of the former, imo

Recommend? Mmm, no. See, it's hard to enjoy much of anything in a game when it runs like a slideshow and part of the community's dead-set on gaslighting you into thinking your PC is the problem. Keeping the game uninstalled until the devs start responding to external stimuli again and do something about this mess

Gonna be reviewing Dead Island 2 based on the actual game itself, rather than what I think about the whole review-bomb situation regarding Epic Games (which, for the record, I don't like either and did the whole bypass thing just to play the damn game).

Been playing for a couple days now and, so far, I really like the game. The combat feels like a complete upgrade from the first game(s), the graphics are shiny and new, and the zombie viscera is next-level. I can't really comment much on the story, mostly because I don't really care what's happening or why (for the moment), and because I just haven't completed the game yet. Skill cards are a weird choice for progression, but they're a welcome change from the same old level tier list I've been seeing in a lot of games for the past several years.

But if you're wondering if the game's worth 30$? I think it is. I haven't been able to try co-op since none of my friends have the game, but I'm gonna guess it's possible even without the Epic Games bloatware. I just...can't say if it works is all.

The only major problem I'm having is performance dips, which don't happen consistently, so it's hard to know what's causing them. I know it's not my settings; whether I'm on Ultra or Low, the game will run flawlessly for awhile, up until the lag randomly kicks in. I'm gonna guess this is some kinda issue with the game itself, so maybe that'll get fixed later down the line.

If I had some criticisms/suggestions, they'd be these;

- Toss the Denuvo and Epic Games stuff. If the devs haven't been clued in enough yet, a LOT of people aren't buying the game on Steam just to have EOS complicating even using the game, whether or not you have an account/the software installed and running. When I say I HAD to bypass the Epic Games software stuff just to play, I meant it. Whether or not you're on one side of the flame war or the other, the reality is this is negatively affecting people being able to use the game.

- Make tutorials separate from the rest of the left side notification pop-ups in the settings. I like knowing that I'm making progress on challenges, seeing what blueprints and unlocks I got and all that; I don't need to be told how to block for the trillionth time.

- Playable Sam B with Dead Island 1 skin. Pretty please. :)

TL:DR - I recommend game. I DON'T recommend arguing with strangers over there being some not-so-required software that has a currently working bypass. Either enjoy the game, or go do something else, man. This is a petty hill to die on.
