Pretty good game to scratch the CRPG itch if you've got it. I wouldn't say it has the most excellent writing or the best cast of supporting characters ever, but everything serves its purpose. There's a lot of neat wacky quests, and it feels like your overall vision for main quest is something you can fulfill. Feels like the story could've gone any way depending on what I chose to do. You aren't given much of a background other than being an Arizona Ranger, so there's real roleplay potential for the kind of character you want to be. A bunch of different weapons and skills let you find your niche too, enough for a full party to have something they excel at. Like any good RPG as well, you have a decent amount of dialog options and you have a fair amount of freedom in tackling the problems presented to you (though not as much freedom as I'd like). Gameplay is pretty much X-COM with some tweaks, so it's nothing too complex or hard to figure out. I felt right at home after about two fights. Loved all the references to 80s culture in the game as well. Having not played Wasteland 1 or 2, I wasn't too sure what to expect but I really liked my time.

I only have a ton of minor nitpicks with the game that do add up quite a bit, such as the importance of HP hindering some builds. I decided to spec into Strength on both characters I controlled for example, cause you're gonna get 1-2 shotted if not. Starting feats are pretty bad too, some of which can hinder you pretty harshly for the rest of your game. Skill perks felt pretty lackluster to me, the stat increases to my skills felt far more impactful than many of the perks I could take. A huge one for me though that's both a negative and positive, the soundtrack is AMAZING! From covers of 80s pop to old American anthems, the soundtrack feels masterfully done. What's not so good is the placement of them! Some encounters have unique music, but it seems so random considering there are major encounters with default music. Meanwhile, seemingly smaller scale battles get one of the unique battle themes. Not to spoil anything, but I felt extremely let down at times due to major battles lacking a unique theme while other fights did.

A HUGE disclaimer for Co-op though, it's not perfect. It's actually quite flawed even years later. Latency is usually fine for these kinds of games (Such as Divinity, Baldur's Gate 3, etc.) but I played through the game with someone on higher ping. While I'm uncertain if these issues are related to connection or not, Co-op introduces problems such as; Rounds starting without any AP, some actions consuming no AP even though Lucky Action didn't trigger, and some animations being severely delayed.

If you're going to play this game, I highly advise playing on the beta branch which fixed some smaller issues I had. To access it, go to the game's properties, beta tab and enter "AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs" in the code field.

Overall a pretty good time, get it if you can on a sale. Even though it was buggy, it's even better if you have someone to play it with.
