Absolutely stunning turn-based CRPG, much like the other CRPGs Larian has made in the past, except they keep getting better with every release, and now they have the world of D&D at their disposal to boot.

While it is a perfectly immersive game to play solo, I'm always happy when a game this good is fully co-opable as well! You can play it with 1 friend or 3 (or many more with a simple mod). Speaking of mods, the modding community is thriving for this game, so you can do whatever wild things you want in that regard. I'm more of a vanilla andy myself, I like to experience the game the same way as everyone else who's playing it, but you can go ham with the mods out here courtesy of Larian's generous mod support.

True to the developer's famous speech(s), this game is not here to shout politics down at you or make you wonder how modern social media lingo manifested in a fantasy realm that seems quite occupied enough already with fending off the plots of goblin raiders, undead monsters, and dark gods. Instead full agency is given to the player to be as noble or as vile of a character as you see fit, with several different endings to aim for and different fates ultimately awaiting each of your NPC companions as well.

The turn-based combat system is simple to learn and fun to master, with many fun gimmicks to employ like shoving people off cliffs or electrifying the water they're standing in. Feel free to have the strongest member of your party lug around explosive barrels and hurl them at the enemy when you see fit. All of the classes have a powerful trick up their sleeve that will be available within their first few levels that helps their contribution to the party dynamic feel unique. While it's plenty fun to explore level up options for yourself, if you don't want to think about it, you can just take the game's recommended options for your level up, or google up some potent build online. No pressure either way, for you can re-spec your character at anytime as soon as you unlock a certain character in act 1.

While it's very neat that you can choose one of your companions to be your player character, and thus experience the plot and dialog interactions from their perspective, I do wish the blank slate fully custom player character had just a few more choices on the lore/fluff side of things that would effect dialog. But that being my only complaint says a lot about how much I enjoyed this game, definitely a 5/5 in my book. They even have dialog unique for your co-op players when your friends interact with your NPC companions and said companions gossip about you behind your back! A lot of love and creativity was poured into this game, and there's no microtransactions in sight. The likes of Ubisoft could learn a thing or two from Larian, but I'm doubtful they will at this point. 😎 I look forward to the new subclasses update coming soon!

Amazing third person co-op shooter. Come live out all of your Starship Troopers/Imperial Guard/ODST fantasies while you mow down the hordes of bugs, bots, and [REDACTED] that stand between you and your objective. Yes you can spend cash to unlock goodies in this game, yes you can unlock the same items without spending cash, and no it doesn't take long to unlock them without spending cash. I work a fulltime job, play D&D and FFXIV on the side, and still have the time to nab enough in game currency unlock a warbond every month. No, the warbonds never expire, so take as much time to unlock them as you need.😎

The Sony PSN account linking issue has been resolved (as in you don't have link to your Sony PSN account to play this game on PC), so all the negative reviews concerning that can be safely ignored as of the time of my review. I hope you give this game a try, happy helldiving!🚀
