I finally managed to get into setting (still unaware of how I managed to get the mouse working enough to get into settings) and set the mouse to system mouse. That worked great, the mouse worked perfectly again - for about 6 seconds. Then I changed resolution to the top resolution, and the game crashed. It reset and my entire screen was focused in the top left of the main menu, as if the game thought I was using multiple screens. Very frustrating. I had to force close the program, and have since not been able to get the mouse to work again.
It is very comforting to see the dev actually replying and trying to fix the issues of the paying customers. Props to you for that, mate. Keep it up.
Hopefully this game gets off the ground and up on it's feet.
I am not great at troubleshooting games, the most I do to fix a game is to restart it, or redownload it. Knowing that you are honestly working to improve this game means I will likely come back to it. When I do, I'll most likely change my review. I hope what I have said helps you fix the game. If you could write something in my review so I know you read this, that would be great. Good luck!
Zarkonnen, I hugely apreciate your reply, and it shows a lot about the development of the game. I'll explain anything I can to help, because as I said, the game does look awesome.
I may have missed the introduction to the controls, but I don't remember being introduced on how to scroll the screen or move my ship. This could have been coupled with other issues or something, I don't remember as much now. I do remember that the flip mechanic just didn't work. The ghost outline would apear where I moved the ship to, and the outline would be flipped. My ship would travel to the ghost outline, often over shooting it by large and small distances, and then it would sit still. Sometimes the ghost outline stayed there and nothing happened, and other times the ghost outline would vanish, and my ship would be facing the wrong direction.
Hi! I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a bad experience with the game.
Regarding the problems with the resolution chooser window and the fullscreen mouse: are you using display scaling? This player describes a similar problem that got fixed by turning off display scaling. You can also use the config file I mentioned to set up a custom window size, including a borderless window the same size as the screen that will work much the same as fullscreen (if you hide the task bar) but hopefully without the issues. I know having to do these workarounds isn't exactly great, but it might help you get the game to work better.
I also have some questions about your experience with the tutorial. These questions might look kind of stupid, but they're there to help me understand the difference between what I intended the tutorial to do, and how you actually experienced it.
Which exact controls are not explained by the tutorial? I intended it to introduce how to scroll the screen, how to use the move command to reposition your ship, and how to use the board command to board enemy ships. There are a bunch of additional commands, like "Target", "Ground", and the ability to set work and targeting priorities, that I know the tutorial does not currently explain - which is something I aim to fix.
The flip button does work but may be badly explained. It does not instantaneously flip the ship, but rather flips the outline you are placing when telling the ship to move to a new location. Knowing this, did the tutorial fail to explain how the flip button works?
(Also, that tutorial, #3, needs reworking as it's unreliable. Sometimes, the enemy tower manages to shoot and disable your ship's engine before it's able to reposition.)
