Shockingly good game.

Pros:
- Compelling story that grabs your interest and doesn't slow down to fill out the game time.
- Good voice acting, accompanied by well written dialog.
- Excellent worldbuilding and visuals better than almost every big title out there.
- Engaging gameplay that is fun, letting you mess around with the systems without forcing you to.

Cons:
- Some animations aren't perfect and can feel a bit crunchy.
- Decisions matter but not as much as they could, most of them change the flavor of the story instead of altering its course.

I want more but the length of the game feels perfect. Maybe more stories in the same world, but it'll be hard to beat this one.

This is the closest thing to real life DnD you can get. On top of that, nearly every change made from DnD was one that made the game experience better.
Decisions matter, fights matter, even the gear or letters that you pick up and read matter, the game is incredibly well made. The world is expansive and feels right on the edge of being overwhelming without requiring you to play everything.

It's exactly what AAA video games should be.

There are only two things I can reasonably complain about:
1. Difficulty spikes feel abusive, and higher end enemies can one shot you. This isn't the worst, but it does feel bad if you make one mistake during a fight and you just lose. Removes some of the 'punishment' and just goes straight to preventing you from playing unless you play perfectly.
2. You can't have 3 friends join you unless you summon one as an invader. Really sucks since me and three friends had played through DS3 and were looking forward to doing the same with this game.

Other than those two points, the game is quite literally exactly what I wanted. It's around twice as large as I expected, and the sheer amount of *quality* content itself blows me away. 9.5/10

This game scratches an itch you didn't know you had. If you are a base building enthusiast, try this game out. I can almost guarantee you've never played something as well designed as this.
Each new item's recipe is simple, but may be comprised of several other items, which in turn can be composite. This system allows players a gradual acclimation to each new level of complication without overwhelming them. Such a system allows a depth I haven't seen in other games.

The worker drones are sweet as hell too ayy

After trying to get into this game 8 individual times over 3 years, I finally had fun and now I don't want to stop playing.

There's an interesting difference between lazy programming and lazy game design. This game has the first but not the second. Janky hitboxes and odd timing on attacks or parries would have been smoothed out in a better made game. Random bosses targeting the wrong point in space and throwing off dodge rolls, button queues forcing you into actions 3 seconds after the button was hit, and other issues can make the game frustrating to play.
The design of the levels, lore, combat, and items, however, is excellent. The levels wind and reconnect, forming multiple pathways to each point of interest, and every path has something, whether it's an item or a new shortcut. The lore is obtuse, and difficult to find, but is written into the world so fanatically players still discover secrets years after the game was released. Enemies can miss you if you move, even without dodge rolling. Each enemy has multiple attack patterns, which keeps the game interesting even if you have to fight through a specific area multiple times. Some items are always found in the same spots, whereas others can drop from the enemy that carries them.
Overall, the game's pros far outweigh the cons, but it isn't without fault. Play through it with friends the first time if you're struggling! It makes learning the game more forgiving but will still leave you as a hardened dark souls player by the end.
