So Lollipop Chainsaw. I've been waiting 12 f*cking years for this coming to pc and hell I'm glad it did. LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP is a remaster of the 2012 zombie slasher with the same name. And yeah, it's a James Gunn game. The RePOP version includes both the original (playable in resolutions up to 4K) and the remastered. You can decide which of the versions you want to play in the main menu.

The following review is only about the original mode, since I've not played the RePOP mode yet. I will update the review and add another section where I will talk about the remastered version.

So as you've just read, in the case you're actually able to do that, this part of the review is only talking about the original version which is basically the 2012 OG game. I've played the game with an GTX1660 Super OC and it ran without problems. So if you're like me and you don't run the newest or strongest hardware, you should be definitly able to play the OG version at least.

The game is mostly unchanged from the 2012 version. I've played the game as a kid shortly after it got released together with my brother and his roommate on an XBOX360. The game blew my 10 or 11 year old mind. It was not the first violent game I've played, since my brother raised me with Quake 3, Silent Hill and other more violent video games, also I've got a couple of hours in Team Fortress 2 already. Though the violence in this game was something completely new to me. This was back then the most violent videogame I've had played before, which looking back is kinda funny, since the game really wasn't as violent as I remembered it to be. Well afterwards I did everything to get my hands on this game. There were a few problems though, first I knew the game but not the name and it took me some time to figure, just to find out that the game never got released on PC and that a physical copy of the game would be around 150€ + the cost of and outdated console, which I'm never gonna use in the first place. Well so I've tried RPCS3, which in case you don't know, is a Playsation 3 emulator. I got it to run actually but it crashed a lot, I've had like 10 FPS and the controls were ♥♥♥♥♥♥, even with controller. The experience was so bad that I quit the game before it even started, praying that the game would get a PC port. I've been writing in the comment section of the youtube trailers that they should please remake the game for computer, and now, just a couple of years later we actually finally got this. And it's not just the OG game but also a proper remaster. This is everything I could've asked for. So, a few days after release I decided that 40€ more minus on my bank account won't kill me (it kinda did though) and I bought this for myself as a birthday present. I downloaded the whole thing (which is actually quiet small, and jumped right into the original mode, since I wanted to have the expierience as the first time I've played through this. And ♥♥♥♥ that was good. It's just the same as I remembered it. Just not as violent as I had it in my memory. Still really good though. And even now 12 years later, the OG mode still slaps as hard as it used to be. It's so beautiful over the top. Stupid and genius at the same time. I'm really happy this found it's way back. It has a few bugs though, some of them can be quiet gamebreaking but nothing that can't be fixed with a restart. I can definitly recommened this just for the original version alone, but of course I will also play the RePOP version.

Short update since I'm now also playing the RePOP version. Game looks absolutely fantastic and runs even on a GTX1660 Super OC without any problems. It's the same game just looking much better. The only 2 things which are sadly not so good are for once the replacement of the OG soundtrack, don't get me wrong, the new ones are good, but I just liked the original soundtrack better, since the songs they picked just perfectly fitted. Still the new soundtrack is pretty good too. Only other thing is the lack of gore. It's light purple now. I think the game would be even cooler if it would've more (and red) gore like in the OG game or smth similar to L4D, KF2 and Dying Light. YK just over the top gore would be pretty cool. Other than this the remaster is an absolute blast and you get the OG unchanged version on top of that!!!!
