Silksong is an unbelievably triumph for Team Cherry as a sequel to Hollow Knight. I fully expected and would have been happy with Hollow Knight 2, but that isn't what we got. While there is a lot of the same DNA in this game from its predecessor, Silksong is fully its own game and does so with style and ease.

Hornet plays very differently from the Knight in HK and while at first I was skeptical, by the end I was fully in love with her movement and the sense of skill and comfortable power that Hornet exudes. When I was doing well, the animations, sounds, and responsiveness of the combat system fully makes me believe in Hornet's Hunter fantasy.

The world that she gets to explore is equally rich, HK was a beautiful game when I played it but compared to Silksong it looks drab and lacking detail. The colors are richer, the backgrounds are more layered, and the characters are more numerous and hornets ability to actually talk to them gives greater depth. I did not expect to love Hornet's characterization as much as I did but she feels so real and engaging as a person. Her sense of personal history is very tangible and never once did I feel like she did anything that wouldn't make sense for her character.

The music is one area that is not better, but only because HK was a perfect soundtrack and it would be literally impossible to be better, and I think that SIlksong is as good as the first in this regard. When I heard Red Maiden play during the prison sequence I was grinning ear to ear the score was so perfect and hyped me up to rip the place down to the foundation.

It's an hard game, there's no doubt. But the cruel traps, unforgiving enemies and damage system, and the brutal economy all add to each other and build an atmosphere that is among the best in gaming. It won't be for everyone. A lot of people won't enjoy how gleefully mean this game can be to beat you down. But for me, this game was everything I didn't know I wanted from Silksong and it stands tall as one of the best games I have played.

Congratulations to Team Cherry, it's a masterpiece.

This DLC is notably smaller than the base game, and while in some ways that's disappointing, the quality of the writing, pacing, and polish in the DLC area compared to the base game is another step above the already exceptional base game. The story folds beautifully into the base game and its thematically a perfect companion. The ending is one of the most powerful I have ever experienced in a video game. If you have played Outer Wilds you should play Echo and honestly its worth diving into both at the same time.

Outer Wilds is unbelievably special. The writing and pacing of a self directed mystery game are often wildly all over the place due to how player reliant they are but Outer Wilds is so deft with how well it guides you towards discoveries and understanding.

There are so many Eureka moments, so much emotion in its story beats and the score perfectly punctuates the most important steps in your journey. Don't look up anything and just play it.

I really wanted to love this game, since there's so much about it that I do like, but it gets in the way of itself too much to honestly recommend.

The game is beautiful with its art, music, and characters. I genuinely really enjoyed engaging with all of these things. The combat, exploration, and actual narrative however really drag down the experience for me to an extent that I don't honestly feel that I enjoyed this game very much.

The story is intriguing with the weird setting, and fun characters but I feel like the stories of the chapters are too separate from each other and didn't really cohere into some grander purpose by the end. The reveals in the last sequence of the game were lost on me. Maybe that just makes me dumb but I truly didn't get the majority of the stuff that happened in the last sequence and it mostly felt like the game was trying to explain all the strange background plot that had strung me along for 30 hours and just made a big mess.

Also, the combat is just not good. Switching control between Sam and John to access different abilities feels clunky and it's very annoying when I dodge an attack but the other character that I cant control but follows me gets hit and I take damage still. Most boss fights I just would face tank damage with John while using I-frames to deal too much damage with my frying pan and win within a minute.

I liked the presentation and writing a lot, I want to love this setting and this adventure but I need more than the friendship of John and Sam to take me through such a long game and even that bedrock character dynamic is hampered by the odd choice to make John a silent protagonist. It kinda works but I think I'd like John a lot more as a man of few words than none.

I'm sure a lot of people would like this game but as it stands I just feel "eh' about it and with so much time to build up an experience I expect more than nothing to be my final impression.

One of the most refreshingly old school RPGs I've played in years. It's Oblivion that went to college and majored in History. This world is so detailed and lovingly realized. With great writing, quest design, and a combat system with a lot of depth if you give it a chance to learn its nuances.

This game runs phenomenally well and it's basically the Assassin's Creed game that Ubisoft refuses to make. Play on Lethal if you hate yourself like me.

This is my favorite Live Service Game I've played. The emphasis on ammo, cooldown, and positioning management make the moment to moment gameplay to tense and exciting.

There's fun new things being added all the time and the balance of all the different weapons is pretty great making a variety of play styles viable.

A must play for people who like squad based and tactical shooters. Like a multiplayer Republic Commando.

I played this game entirely on Steam Deck and as an aside I feel this game is a must play on Deck.

Dredge is a really unique experience this year. So many huge blockbuster open world games came out this year and a lot of them were actually really good as well. Among all that Dredge is a great break from all the overwhelming AAA style for something that is concise, dark, and thoroughly engrossing.

The writing is fairly light, but the characters and quests within the world are thematically appropriate to this Lovecraftian setting and well worth reading. The art and music help enhance the story and look totally unique and I was always excited to see the new locations.

The mechanics of the game are simple with the fishing mini game being most of it. But balancing questing, upgrading the ship, exploration, and shuffling the limited inventory keeps it plenty engaging.

Well worth the price and I would recommend to anyone.

Dungeons and Dragons is such a fun tabletop experience. The only downside is that you need at least 2 and preferably 4-5 people all together to make the most of it. Baldur's Gate 3 goes a long way towards solving that issue. At its best, this game is a very good quality session of D&D by yourself or with friends if you happen to have some of those.

You can make your own character or have a premade character to go through the story with. Both are great, with the premade characters having special abilities that make them unique and special dialogues as well. The game is very forgiving with the ability to remake your character or revive a dead companion at any time for a very small fee.

A good campaign of D&D takes months or years to complete often. Due to the enormous amount of automation in this game that's not really possible. But the length of story, combat encounters, and exploration makes this game massive in the way that D&D should be. At 30 hours I feel like I mostly have experienced Act 1 of three acts. This is the smallest act. Only playing a few hours a night a few nights a week with a friend makes this game probably take me a month or more to finish. Like a great campaign should.

The presentation, is not perfect to be honest. The game doesn't give me a lot of information that I wish it would. I can't see enemy vision unless I try to stealth so I often don't know where to hide my rogue to get sneak attacks. Also where I would need to stand to throw a weapon or use a ranged attack is usually very hard to see and the angles to find good hits is very confusing.

It's a shame because the graphics and UI are generally good otherwise. The characters look good and are fairly expressive, though don't expect true to life motion capture. The locations, friends, enemies and loot are all interesting to look at and memorable. The art style helps to capture the somewhat whimsical nature of the story being told here.

Speaking of, the story is very out there. I am only a third through, but I am very intrigued and the side quests are also good at investing me in the adventure they are telling. Often a whole night will be spent on just one side quest and it feels like a night well spent.

If you like RPGs, especially old-school ones you MUST play this game. It is Larian's crown jewel and the best D&D game hands down. Give it the time it deserves and please let there be a DLC for level 13-20 content.
