Crazy that Piokou went from remaking the Pianus fight, to that one weird robot game, to finally having a playable Yuma Nest in our hands. While there's still an apparently huge amount of game left to be made, what's available to us now is still quite a bit. This game hits the nostalgia bone for anyone who wants a "modern Maplestory" that isn't a over-monetized slop fest. Also for people who want that experience but don't necessarily have all the time in the world anymore (the grind is absolutely there if you do though!)

As for what's good at the time of writing, combat and movement are insanely satisfying and it feels like a lot of thought was put into making the grindy nature of the premise feel less... well, grindy. The mix/match system for enhancements and skills definitely feels like it adds a lot of depth and gives you multiple different tools to approach how you want to play. I didn't think I'd care much for the automation (Manasim) system, but it does feel very gratifying finding out how to utilize the tools available to optimize your gains. Also, the art and sound design is phenomenal, and exactly what I'd want from a game like this.

Obviously this is in very early access so I won't go too deep on the negatives, but if I were to say anything, my main complaint is lack of variety. Specifically classes, armor, weapons and vanity. Could just be my Maple brain speaking, but I wish there were more drops (like the blue/purple gloves from the lantern mobs) and more conventional shops for armor/weapons. Again though, this is in early access, so we will get more items, but I do also hope that actual weapon/armor shops are planned for people who want to throw money at the problem LOL. While I do appreciate the thought put into the crafting system, I'm still using some of the level 1 gear just because I can't be bothered to go into the Nether as much.

Speaking of, the Nether... I'm conflicted. I know it's supposed to be a more difficult zone compared to everywhere else we have access to, but it definitely doesn't feel worth trying to explore when every mob deals 30+ damage vs. the mobs in the main area dealing 10 or less around levels 15-20 (outside of Elites & Palea mobs, of course). I did manage to beat the one dragon looking boss after a few attempts and that was fun to figure out, but the fight itself imo outstayed its welcome with how much HP the boss had with very few attack patterns. Maybe it's a just skill issue, but overall this is the part of the game that I'm just indifferent on completely.

All in all, I'm proud of Piokou and I hope to see what lies in the future of Yuma Nest. I'd recommend it both as an investment and for what is currently available.
