After running the game with the Steam Linux Runtime, it no longer tries to murder my SSD. Disk usage is still considerable and it would be nice to actually utilize the RAM I own. Either way, the game is playable now and doesn't crash as often.

OMG same!! It's still laggy but at least I can actually play now 😭😭😭 hopefully they'll optimize it soon!
