I love this game and it was a huge part of my teenage years, but unfortunately it is pretty much unplayable for anyone outside of the US and EU nowadays, casual matchmaking rarely finds matches and when it does it's only with a very small number of players, some of which are almost always bots.

Although there used to be a few decent dedicated non-US/EU servers back in the day, this is sadly no longer the case, the very few remaining ones all pretty much exclusively run trade maps, and those that actually run default maps end up only running 2fort, turbine or hightower, maps that are notorious for causing stalemates, where players care very little about teamwork.

And unfortunately this can't be remedied much by playing on servers far from where I live due to the way the source engine works and how the netcode operates, playing on high-latency servers results in an extremely poor experience, everything you do, such as rocket/sticky jumping, hitting someone with melee, shooting projectiles and even hitting hitscan shots becomes exponentially more difficult the higher your ping is, making playing on servers far from you resulting in terrible gameplay.

I really miss this game and despite having so many hours on it i still get the itch to play every now and then, an itch that I pretty much can't scratch, and it honestly upsets me.
