Seems alright. Kind of limited in Early Access currently with essentially only one map. Visuals are great for the most part. Game is not balanced for singleplayer at all, and isn't an enjoyable experience without friends.

Pushes all the nostalgia buttons for Desert Strike, with upcoming planned campaign biomes that are likely to do the same thing for later games in the original series that Cleared Hot is a definite spiritual successor of. Doing the originals justice.
It's a lot of fun.

Gave this game a fair shake a little while back, and took me a bit to figure out what I didn't like about it.

In short, the gameplay revolves around timer management. Not just the obvious cooldown timers on the HUD, but a lot of gameplay mechanics are timer bound and not really in sync with the visible animations. For someone who likes their games to give a feeling of agency and responsiveness, Marvel Rivals feels anything but. Stuff feels awkward, sluggish, and not very connected with what's going on onscreen.

The game plays more like a combat MMORPG, something like DOTA or LoL, with the added wrinkle of moving and aiming in three dimensions. If you're into that, enjoy I guess? It's never been a genre that I've liked,

So, Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a gacha game. This means it's pay to win, and predicated on baiting players into spending a lot of real money ingame. A lot of things that are free are time gated so after a while of doing them you have to wait a real day before you can do them again.

If you have addiction or gambling problems, you should not play gacha games, including this one.

That said, it's fun and just plain cute. It's essentially a management sim where you train athletes (horses reincarnated as girls because why not) to compete in races and then perform an animated concert at the end. There's an engaging and interesting story/character lore, the personalities are distinct and fun, the art is great, and the game from a technical perspective performs well and looks good. (Though it's clearly a mobile port, it's well done.)

There's also an anime spin off series that's generally pretty decent(there are a few flop seasons, but overall it's good).

Game's.....okay. It's not fantastic, but it's not bad. You get what the store page shows you. It's fun, though a bit limited, and could use a proper musical soundtrack and better options.

MiSide is a well-crafted game. The writing is interesting, the animations and scenes evocative, and it probably has a little social commentary in there too for those who are into that sort of analysis.

The game essentially plays like a walking simulator or visual novel (with some easy action sequences) and a bunch of minigames scattered throughout.

There are also interesting aesthetic choices in how some technologies are used in the game, that I feel give it its own charm too.

The game also doesn't waste your time, repetition things (when they're there as part of the storytelling or game world) get easier as you go, so the repetitions speed up, You can load saves and dive in to get collectables you missed without harming anything, and without having to repeat vast sections of the game just to take a different dialog path.

A lot to really say here.... I don't think this will help since the game's been out over a year, but who knows. I wanted to like this game. I'm a fan of the Punch Out series, which this is clearly trying to be a worthy successor to. It doesn't meet that goal though.

Sound Design
The effects need some cleanup, some things are randomly loud or have heavy bass, other things don't.

Voice Acting
This probably can't be helped with an indie game, and its probably one of the developers(sorry man), but the voice acting here is .....not good. Like, I have heard worse, but it's not good. Very clearly reading from a script with little intonation. You can tell this from the trailer, the ingame audio is no different.

Controls
You can't change them if you're on keyboard.
If you're on gamepad, you have two options, which just shift the orientation of the high/low punches. Which could have taken a lesson from the Punch Out franchise (or many games unrelated) and combined them into one.
There's no reason to have high and low punch on separate keys. Do it like Punch Out; hold up and press left/right punch to punch high, don't hold up and press left/right punch to punch low. You can't punch with both at once so why on earth do you need separate buttons for each?
There's no subtlety to how the dodging and attacking are controlled, it's just press 1 button for 1 action and that's it. (Other than charging punches, the one combination action, which doesn't really telegraph how its working sometimes, if you just hold it without pressing punch you charge up and do nothing but stay in some charge stance until you let go of he button or get hit.
Maybe it's just me or maybe there's a bug but blocking didn't seem to work reliably even against the same attacks.

Timing
Timing on many moves is extremely generous. That may fix itself as you progress in the game, but the first few opponents give you all the time in the world to respond to whatever, and you can hold your dodge or duck for the longest time, it barely needs to be timed, you just hold it and wait for the opponent's attack to finish.

Telegraphing and Visuals
Enemies are brightly coloured and often oddly shaped, which makes the immediate response more difficult to notice what they're doing around your character and over the busy backgrounds.
There's little hit feedback when you're hit or really showing what direction you need to dodge to avoid an attack other than trial and error.
When you're low health the screen changes colour and zooms in, making it hard to respond to things, it seems like it's trying to make you lose when you get low, especially when an enemy does some sort of vaguely telegraphed attack that you can't see properly because it's so zoomed in.

There's a good start here, but I can't recommend this game.

I'm not into WH40k lore.

That said, this is a well-made game that hits all the right buttons of doing a complete power fantasy mowing through the hordes. It's got great aesthetics and audio design, things look, sound, and feel weighty and strong. There is some jank with the parrying system in the game, and there's a definite learning curve.
I don't recommend new players start on Veteran or higher difficulty when playing alone, even if they're experienced gamers, experienced with this sort of game, and these sorts of mechanics. Veteran's just really unforgiving, and the difficulty beyond that is even worse. Part of the issue is the NPC teammates are plain bad, and enemies tend to ignore them, instead all focusing on you. (They're useful to revive you after you're down, though.)
You'll be more capable of doing that if you're playing coop with other players.

All in all, solid fun to wade through a bunch of alien critters with a sword ripping them limb from limb and shooting them too. It's kinda like Doom in that sense, albeit with more of a melee focus.

That said, the preorder and DLC stuff presently has zero draw for anyone not into WH40k stuff, additional gameplay should be free. I recommend picking this up on sale. There's no rush to dive into it, and you can enjoy it anytime. Why pay full price?

It's a casual game about blowing ♥♥♥♥ up with tongue in cheek humour. With a really whiny playerbase.

It's fun, any idiot can do it, and there are big explosions.

Was hoping for something less click on stuff in a particular (sometimes sensible, sometimes irrelevant) order to disassemble/reassemble firearms. Would have more appreciated something that simulated that and let you play around with accurate parts in a relaxed way, as well as observe operation in simulation.

This wasn't really what I was hoping for, unfortunately.
