Where do I even start.

Visually this game looks "FINE" but there is nothing stand out or eye catching about this game, art direction wise it feels like FF light crossed with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Destiny is what I feel after playing this for 6 hours. Animation in cut scenes feel extremely abrupt and rushed, Music stops abruptly anytime a cut scene is set to interrupt game play and cut scene animation and pacing feel particularly poor.

Story wise I couldn't really tell you why but it really fails to keep me engaged, we're introduced to this city and the "gifted ones" and after a bit of exposition and exploring the city is suddenly under threat, in amongst all this there's a ton of terminology specific to the universe thrown around like voidrax, gifted ones and as hard i tried to maintain interest in the story it really failed to capture me even with some of the action parts, voice acting in these cut scenes feels awful in English , it's tolerable to a degree in Japanese but there's barley any emotion from our main duo of Kaser and Arena when voice acted in japanese and in english i can't tolerate either of them to be honest especially the extended cast.

Combat feels terrible, it has the God eater weight and feel of throwing your weapon around and hitting what feels like paper mache and enemies barley are aggressive enough to warrant a challenge even having completed chapter 2 it feels like the enemy ai is lacking quite a bit but even then with the combo system as it exists currently in LSA it doesn't feel experimental enough to be comparing itself to DMC maybe that's because i haven't unlocked the last 2 weapons of the poleblade and the scythe but the majority of the upgrades don't seem to add variety in terms of combos but more modifiers for burst pursuit or just extra heavy attacks as far as I have gotten with the sword upgrades.

RPG mechanic wise it feels bland, there are attachments and weapon types you can pick up for elemental boosters but i feel this game shouid stick to one lane than trying to be an action hack n slash arpg hybrid as it's doing neither genres justice in any capacity

Bosses feel horrible and it's because they want every boss to be a padded experience of "get through their shield bar before you can do real damage" this would be fine in most context as games like FF7R FFXVI and Tales of arise also take this mechanic however the things these games do that justify this mechanic is there are moves that can raise the damage multiplier of staggered enemies and bosses as you set up for a stagger it feels rewarding, in this game it feels terrible as the only thing you're rewarded with is a flimsy combo attack depending on what weapon you use, theres no variety here and of course with bosses there won't be a whole lot you can do to them aside from maybe this games variation of a DT and the combo attack. the bosses are also very bland...having aoe indicators for some god forsaken reason and big blue glows on parriables rather than letting you figure it out for yourself.

overall i don't think i'll be finishing this game and mind you i finished tales of arise even though i didn't like that game either, i waited 11 years for this game just to be absolutely disappointed..pick it up on a sale if anything i'd say the games worth about 25-30 in it's current state not sure how much extra work the devs would even put into this considering this game took its sweet time coming out.
