I beat Darkest Dungeon 1 on Stygian. Loved it. 10/10. This is not that game. The roguelike "Progress" in this game feels like walls that handicap you in an already difficult game.

DD2's main campaign mode doesn't feel very fun. Kingdoms was extremely fun but I can't see many people liking it, as the difficulty is still obscene and the game itself doesn't well explain what you're supposed to be doing. Overall, I can't recommend as I don't think most people would enjoy this game.

Great game that's still trying to figure out what exactly it's trying to be. Fun to delve into with friends. Exceedingly toxic community. The F2P is worth trying, with $30 being pretty on par with other "never going to be finished with Early Access" games.

Edit: After a lot of time with this game before it came to steam, I don't recommend you try it. The game has glaring issues with movement, ranged damage, and time to kill. I don't know how the devs fix it, and I don't think they do either. I'd look for a different game to play if I were you.

Required PSN account after launch is a dealbreaker. Will be requesting a refund even if it's fruitless. I've never had a PSN account and see no reason why one should be required for me to play a PC game with my friends on PC, besides Sony wanting to collect data or user statistics.

If it wasn't for this PSN requirement, great game and I loved the original as well.

EDIT: This is Democracy Manifest. Sony backed down on a stupid thing to do. Helldivers II is fantastic.

Genuinely might be the best Battle Royale game ever made. The mechanics, the jokes, the balance! Every weapon is S tier with the right play style, they all can be incredible strong in the right positioning.

The driving from town to town is easily my favorite Battle Royale arena shrinking/moving. It moves players into combat in ways other Battle Royales fail to do. It does it without feeling unfair, like a Zone in something like PUBG/Warzone/Fortnite/Apex can be. And it avoids massive boring camping in games that are sorta Battle Royales like Hunt Showdown and Tarkov.

The Horse mechanics are hilarious. The fact the goofy, hard to control, Mario Kart parody horse riding is not only funny, but has a genuine high skill cap to it is great. The fact you can learn the controls, learn the routes, and find little ways to cut time off a trip was so genuinely fun to do between gunfights for me. It became more fun than the gun play for a good amount of my playtime.

Match vs Menu times are probably the best of any Battle Royale .There is something absolutely amazing about this games queue taking seconds, followed by the game itself being ready to start in seconds. Even when you lose, it doesn't feel like a big deal because a game could start again in literally 10 seconds. Not find a match in 10 seconds, or load. I mean START.

Ofcourse it was riddled with bugs and glitches. Rarely was a bug game breaking and not in the first 5 seconds of a match, where it really didn't feel bad to just requeue.

Hackers were pretty rare but did exist. Usually seemed to be people just having fun with breaking the game. Never had the player base to really pull script kiddie hacking into it.

Unfortunately I have to give this game a thumbs down even though I have pretty much nothing but praise for it.
It's dead. No player base. I really hope Landfall changes the game to Free again. I feel like a Free To Play sequel with a little polish and a pay to customize character shop could be a great. Again, please Landfall make this game free to play. Otherwise it's just dead. You can't even see all the towns because you spawn left to right, and nobody spawns on the right side of map anymore since the lobbies aren't full.

EDIT: 2024, still a dead game. But I'd change one thing about this review. The quick queue times were the problem that killed the game. Not being able to host a lobby or have a queue that waits to fill made it impossible to play and killed it far faster than it should have died.

EDIT: 2024-#2! It's F2P and thus alive again. If it has enough players to function despite the matchmaking issues, it's currently one of the most fun games on Steam again! Can't recommend enough!

Slay The Spire meets Peggle. It's a real shame this games rating is being lowered due to the price point. Slay The Spire is $25 as of this review. If Peglin keeps getting content, it would be $5 cheaper than a comparable game (With Peglin being $20 as of this review.)

Gameplay is fun, aimer needs to be controllable with the up and down arrows on keyboard. A change to how precise aiming works on mouse would also make things smoother. I think holding middle mouse button to makes the aimer move slower would make precise shots more comfortable versus the current controls. it has great Relic concepts, enemies, and bosses. Excited to see more of them! The only downside I've noticed so far with the gameplay itself is the curve between a good run and a bad one is too swingy. I never feel like I'm pushed for a stronger build until I'm being destroyed. Might be due to how forgiving the healing is. But there becomes a point where you must have either a Ball(Orb) that deals AOE damage of some kind or a Bomb synergy build. Without one of them you hit a pretty hard wall that may not give you a chance to correct before death. Any other complaint about balance isn't something you expect perfect in an Early Access title. As long as there is a system similar to Acsension in Slay The Spire I can see this game being an extremely replayable roguelike to any Peggle fan.

Great Story, interesting combat system, many FTL elements. But that's about it on the good end. Normal difficulty was pretty easy, with me losing 1 run. The random events pool feels small, feel like I've seen it all after beating the game. To compare it to FTL, this game would be like every time you win FTL you then start over with new areas and new boss at the end.

I beat the game and enjoyed it, but I really see no reason to replay it. I'll list what I think the games problems are. The runs are very repetitive item wise, with most weapons/squadrons being lvl I-IV progression where higher just means more damage or better cool down. Random weapons preview where they will hit, making them not random. Each ship has a cool gimmick, but it locks you into "You're doing X for the next 1 hour" where every engagement just feels the same. Weapon balance feels bizarre with cooldowns and damage not feeling like they accurately reflect the weapon pool as a whole. Any weapon that attacks enemy ships directly besides the starting laser seems to have absurdly long cooldowns making them not worth using when clearing a path for your squadrons is far faster and more effective.

I haven't done a hard difficulty run yet, so maybe some things feel better on hard.

I'd still recommend this game due to the interesting story, and fun gameplay before it feels repetitive. Just don't expect this to be your next Binding Of Isaac, FTL, or Enter The Gungeon kind of replayability game. Once you beat the story you've pretty much exhausted the enjoyment.

If you're a 100% the achievements kind of player, I'd stay away due to needing to win 36 runs on hard to get all achievements, which just doesn't sound remotely fun due to repetitive play.
