It's fine but I feel like people are getting misled by the launch generosity. New Gachas are pretty well known for showering the early players with freebies, and having a small stockpile of stamina/energy refill consumables and a ton of pulls you can literally retry by deleting your save is not something players should get used to or expect.
That being said, once you finish the tutorial you can delete your save as many times as you want to try and get the current Umas you're after while they're showering us in carats So it's a great time to start playing.

As for the gameplay, the closest thing I can think of is monster rancher. It's a lot of stat sheet and number planning, and utilizing events and power ups for growth during careers. You scout Umas, then raise them and their stat growth during their careers. Something like Rancher is more satisfying, but on the upside your Umas never die, even if they do remain disappointments. Interspersed between the races and management is a massive amount of psuedo VN content like character stories, cutscenes and little arcs to follow alongside the main story. Most people I wager, set everything to skip. There is a phenomenal amount of talking in this game and seeing as you're rewarded carats for skipping through it, buckle up. The main rewards for winning major races are also concerts sung by your Umas like idols. Skippable, collectible, odd.

Gacha mechanics are split into two systems. Support cards and Umas. Umas have the more satisfying, dopamine charging gacha animations but ultimately Support cards are more beneficial out of the gate as long as you have a 3* uma or two to work with in career mode. You're given a ticket to freely redeem one, and a ton of pulls. So there's really no excuse in you not not being able to pull both gachas. Focusing on one will severely hamper your career performances.

As a F2P I've currently been able to clear all goals for a couple racers in the current career, but can't seem to beat the race at the end. That being said I do considerably better each and every playthrough, so there's a definite growth/progression to the gameplay loop. I have a suspicion that most of the power creep is going to come from support cards in the future. An Uma is only as good as its personal skill and base stats, but being able to mix up your growth and career bonuses is way more versatile. So keep that in mind when spamming your free carats. Especially when SSR pulls are a .5% chance.

6.5/10 At launch - A truly bizarre concept for a game, but surprisingly enjoyable. Worth trying for those who are not prone to addictive behavior or gambling. As I'd say with all gachas, if you don't think you can handle them it's always more than fair to simply avoid them entirely.

I hate Bertholdt. Always did. You should hate him too. Demonstrate our unified hatred by not buying his DLC.

This is a bizarre instance where a bonus cosmetic runs the fine line between not matching the style and still somehow sort of doing so. Really not a bad outfit at all. Among the top 5 for sure.

Quite possibly the worst way to spend 3.49. I'd respect you more if you bought a shot bottle of cake flavored vodka over this.

I highly recommend turning this costume on at the earliest chance and then trying to play the game normally with everyone else. Every cutscene he's in ends up being gold.

Hange my beloved

Chances are you'll A rank it the first time, and S rank it once you know what's going to happen. Most of the trivia is pretty surface level, I'm anime-only at the time of this review and knew every answer so it should be pretty approachable to fans.

Structure is this, - center map has red signal/objective and resupplies. When there you are asked a trivia question that is multiple choices, the answer is always a character. The mission then places all of those characters along the edge of the map, as well as large titans for them to fight. You find the one that represents the current answer, kill their titan, and recruit them to proceed. The remaining unkilled titans wander towards the objective/resupplies and you're expected to stop them from gathering between rounds. Rinse and repeat for five rounds.
Basically just XP, a few wings of freedom and a handful of Keith relationship points per completion. Takes about 7-9 minutes depending on how fast you can clear titans while keeping track of the target locations on the minimap.

Is it worth 99 cents? Maybe, it's not the most fun mission in the world and the only replay value comes from hoping for new questions. But I guess if you're a big fan of the series and want to try your trivia knowledge it could be fun.

As of writing this review this is easily my favorite of the DLC missions. You set up a base in the forest of giant trees, then you are essentially besieged on all sides by titans just as backup arrives leading to a struggle on multiple fronts of the map. Very enjoyable to S rank and play alone.

Color me surprised, I actually think you should buy a DLC item for this game.

Not the worst mission in the world, but also not the best. You are faced with waves of small titans in the various areas of the training grounds map and the objective is to kill all 100 of them.
Might be useful for cheevo farming I guess, but ultimately it's just you killing the same hordes of enemies while new waves occasionally belly-flop from the sky. I don't think I've ever had a killcount lower than 97 in this map, so don't expect the AI to do any lifting whatsoever. But for 99 cents? It could be worth it for some people who just want a timekiller map.

They want 40 dollars for this, and then another 40 dollars for those...
Not to mention they also charge for two different season pass DLCs, one for cosmetics and one for the additional episodes. You read that right, they want two season passes and the cosmetic one doesn't even include all the costumes.

I got this DLC as a gift and I feel like my friend got scammed considering we both thought the silly holiday stuff was included. Shame on predatory DLC schemes like this. Notice how it has just 3 screenshots, and makes no effort to list the cosmetic DLCs included. The publisher went out of their way to hide what's in it.


-TLDR; This is a blatantly and intentionally misleading and predatory package. Unless it's phenomenally discounted, and we're talking something like 90%, it's not worth your money.
