The game is a lot of fun overall, imo. Things start to pick up a lot at level 25 during the Great Wall quest I think it's called. Once you do that quest you'll have a decent idea if you like the world n such.

The games Story and Cast of characters in your party aren't nearly as intriguing as any of the 3 ME games before this. Because of this sometimes you might find yourself lacking motivation when it comes to progressing the story.

Combat however is hands down Better Than Ever while still feeling very familiar to anyone who's played the earlier titles. Everything combat related is very fluid and battles feel really rewarding when you properly pop off your combos and lay waste. IMO, the game is meant to be / should be played at the hardest difficulty you can handle. I think playing on the hardest difficulty makes the game feel legit in terms of how hard it should feel trying to inhabit new worlds.

Combat and Exploring has been the real driving force for me personally when it comes to progressing through the game and while the story isn't as interesting as the previous titles, at least you're still able to impact how some things play out based on decisions you make. There's a lot of freedom/choice in how you play/advance the game which is nice to still see.
Your decisions might not impact the game as much as they previously did but they're enough to feel like they matter.

There's still a path to follow and while the decisions you make aren't as impactful as previous titles, they're still much more prevalent than say Fallout 4s lack of RP decision making.

Anyhow for now I'm gonna give this a 7/10 and I recommend playing it if you're just looking for a good Sci-fi Space FPS.
However if you're only playing this to continue the legacy of the trilogy that came before it, you might be slightly disappointed.

It's fun and there is a lot of content.
