"Brave Adventurer!"

I shall never forget that brave pair of fools whom rambled upon my self and mine friend playing their recorders and singing their tales of glory, 'twas a moment of peace in an unsung world full of robots and raiders, shortly followed by the thunder of rocketeers raining down upon our patch , where we were harvesting lemons for our ♥♥♥♥♥, we scarpered away and to this day I know not what happened to thee, the bards of old town, their songs cut short by the dastardly drones.

Alas to this day we have not crossed paths again.

It is my only wish that those gallant gentlemen may play on to this day and for ever more.

Not a game for barbarians, you actually need to read.
Not a game for casuals, you actually need to think.
Not a game for MLG, too much luck.

Cube Chaos plays like an action RTS/ Deck builder/ Tower Defence /"rogue" something, but is quite unique in every aspect, comparison here is only for context, because after a few moments you might realise it provides it's own (context).

I would recommend this game to my most strategically minded, most exploitative, autistic friends, they would love it for every quirk and flaw, to unlock its mechanics and exploit their features would be a joy! GLHF frens!

I do wish good luck for the dev, as they have made something so individually separate from the rest of the gaming space they have little to copy from, all of the decisions they take for direction exist in a vacuum where none have trodden before, no matter what inspiration they took, this ♥♥♥♥ is unique in too many ways, god speed!

Probably time to review this.

I will put my gripes up front;
-Combat is not 100% streamlined
_Camera movements can nudge you out of position just enough to make you whiff your inputs
_You are at the whim of animation speeds (Ie, replaying the same fights can be a chore as you wait for execution)
_Selecting abilities is mostly relegated to clicking on your bar(s) (please note you can customise 1-12 abilities but its down to yourself to manage that across each char and each save file).

-Dice rolls....You can blame your self for taking risks but remember whilst your Tav is scripted, your IRL char is not, take less risks or prepare to reload a save, or sucome to the gods of RNG! ... THAT IS FAIR however I do think the breakdown of your expected rolls would be benefit by a clearer reflection of your ability check dificulty vs stats... I don't like picking my options only to find the dificulty check was 30...(!)... Let me know that first plz.

-MP is great but I feel wasted QOL in the form of planning/mini map options. You can pin notes to the map but you can't draw on it, and your ping only linger for a moment, would be fantastic to atleast increase the time ping(s) linger.



Thats my major gripes, with emphasis on the camera in combat (it resets between charecters juuust enough to make me flub attacks consistently if im in a rush and since im playing my 5th or 6th run, yeah, it bothers me consistently.



The wins?;

-Story!
_You won't find anything as in depth in terms of character development or immersive storytelling, it has Mass Effect and Dark Souls equally beaten (both representing extreme opposites in story telling formats), I am talking accross the peaks of both series(s).

-Player Freedom!
_ Your build will change the game but if you want to take that Wizard build in your heart and dreams theres no reason not to do it! Planning and Imagination are the keys to success do don't be afraid to play an unpopular build!

-Presentation .... (omg!)
_This game is beautiful... Sound, Graphics, Story (again...), mechanically, it's the highest quality you have seen period, for every amount of critical review I have offered this game is dripping in quality... and trust me, on higher difficulties expecially theres a thousand reasons to rage quit if you are reckless, but, theres 10 thousand more to persevere and overcome the challenges it presents, isn't that the point of gaming? If thats not your thing go play a crappy mobile game and pre order call of duty....


Anyway, I could say more but I think im hitting the upper limit of audience retention on charecters :D

Enjoy, I hope the fantasy theme does not put off players who would otherwise love the mechanics and story of BG3, I know a good few friends who dislike certain themes I wont elaborate on, but they are the ones who are missing out :D.


(addendum)

I will note the possibility for MODS far strip the games overall potential for PC. Be that QOL features or balance changes, I do hope Larian extend the mod features but as it stands you already have a more robust experience than the average game, I would argue with nexus support you already have a greater potential experience than other games (caugh, skyrim, eat a **** Tod xD).

Gonna be honest, I play this on switch because it's a waste of CPU/GPU power on my pc, and it just fits the pocket style of play so well, when I had the chance to get the early DLC, it was a straight decision to play portable.

These days, the steam deck is an option, and im so deep into the game that if i could, maybe I would buy the dlc's again just to replay and stream...

Not saying im that good, but I do consider these things, because Dead Cells is still keeping fresh and the comminity is alive, making it possibly the first comlete game I would buy twice!

Besides MGS 2/3 and their bonus featured substance/subsistance versions, aaand their HD remakes, but whatever....damn good game.

Disappointment here is that the game was short and far too easy, with the challenge mostly resting on the mini game, but the story was satisfying and that is something that never gets said about Sanic.

AKA: M1911 Elite; Was Scharfschützin sein, immer noch ein Mann oder Weffung?

I am english and studdied german as a hobby, grew up in the golden age of ww2 shooters. Quite a delightful game to set me back and possibly the last of the games I will be buying for my collection with that in mind. Family history of WW2 duty and cold war service started me off in gaming as a tool of understanding the times as they might have seen them.

Reading reviews I was on the fence if i was even worth dropping a few coins on it at release, but I can safely say this one will be re-visited when I have time, even after the story is finished.

I don't like certain progression milestones that have interrupted how I would have liked to play the story, but they are a tool of modern conventions and not a problem with the game, unlocks, linearity and AI limitations are certainly factors that time has set in stone. Theres still a lot to offer.

I intended to play the whole game on realistic settings but submitted to easy mode sprint and objective grab after the third mission. A decision I made myself but without a good set of tools to fit my play style one can only decide when there are no better options.

Still, thats just how games work these days, and when im showing future generations what grandad games looked like this will be one of the first i go to, even though there are better games out there in every regard.

Anyway, for a game about sniping there are far few testicles assasinated for my liking in my playthrough. The voice of your protaganist is the loudest noise in the game and can drown out gunfire, sad because it's the most generic example of american retro bravado, good you can turn it down but it's both the charecter that fits the most and the flattest impression in the game at the same time. Fitting really, that it doesn't fit me.

So in terms of playability and replayability the game stands out for being unremarkable in every what it HAS TO, and that make it stand out for every reason that it doesn't need to stand out already, as a game about stealth and options it has the right amount of hand holding and blunt force to succede.

Should you buy? Yes, I only reccomend it to anyone with some patience and a lot of standards to live by, only to be willing to let them slip.

It's pretty remarkable in it's generics and I find that especially poetic if you couldn't tell already. There's character in it's lack of character for anyone with an eye for detail.

I might even consider going back for SE4, I tried 3 when it came out but hated the way it handled as a PC game, im not a console shooter type, this version NAILED the PC controls for those it matters to, but I can't say im in a rush to find out if 4 had things covered even if reviews came in positive about the general experience.

TL;DR, 5/5 review, perfectly imperfect.

To address bad reviews, that's your fault for not knowing what you really want to play, you won't be happy with any more or less, me neither, the difference is I accept that.

Seriously though. Early access. It is what it is, currently can't load my saves so the meme stands.

RIP Dinguz Khant, and my second toon, Butter Lard.

Upsides: Played for nearly a straight 24 hours as soon as I got it, right after divorcing my wife and selling the kids. Net gain.
